Good morning to all the forum folks on this warm, sunny but very windy Wednesday.
BOM has warnings out for damaging winds for this area, no doubt trees will fall on power lines etc. We are trapped between a high over Australia and a severe low between us and Antarctica. Them’s the breaks.
Went out in the wind earlier to pick up some packages from the PO it was very gusty and has got worse since them.
All my planning for a quick trip to Queensland has been thrown into disarray (not really) after a phone call from Wollongong Urology offering an appointment next Tuesday. They apologised for the delay but they had mislaid my file They were a week late, I wasn’t that fussed.
Because of this wind it doesn’t look like I will be doing much outdoors for the rest of the day but at least it is warm (26°). Thank goodness it is not bin day because they don’t like the wind and take shelter by lying down when it is windy.
Good morning all, very cool morning, only 20c, after another Summer storm yesterday evening. It wasn’t as violent as the day before but lasted much longer. It’s gonna get really hot and humid again later. This isn’t the turning point for the change in season yet, I don’t want Autumn yet anyway , it would be much too early. it usually starts getting cold late October.
My land line’s down, but luckily my wifi is functioning, maybe the lightning damaged something. I have to phone the repair service and speak to a robot about it , I’ll hopefully be able to speak to a human being
Those winds don’t sound good @Bruce, I hope they don’t cause any damage. We live in a very windy, exposed area and we often get gale force up to 100km, causing damage, chimneys and roof tiles flying away, trees falling down and so on.
Good morning - It’s forecast to get warm later but looking a bit grey at present. Not much happening today …thank the lord. A person can have enough of things happening.
Hope your place survives the buffeting Bruce. High winds always worry me, especially regarding the big oak tree at the bottom of the garden. Also the bins. I’ve seen bins suffer serious injuries in the wind. They fall over and their innards spill out everywhere. A terrible mess.
A jolly good "Hump morning " to all, a lovely morning in deed Currently 71 f (21.6 c), looking for a high around 95 f (35 c), another hot and muggy late August morn.
"Happy Wednesday !

Maggie, my little black one-eyed pup is sitting next to me wishing everyone a good morning - but not until she gets her cheese!
That’s plenty of excitement with the wind, and I hope the bins have a nice nap @Bruce . I hope the conditions calm down; it’s always a little sickening to see good trees toppling. Take care.
@Rose I hope you at least get plenty of shade to break the heat and your land lines are repaired quickly. Having a reliable cell phone and internet must be a comfort when you live a good distance from town.
Now that Maggie has her cheese, I am sitting on proper furniture before another day of creeping along the baseboard line removing every little spot, sanding, before touching up on paint throughout the house. The house was purchased when it was five-years-old, so there is lot of the wear-and-tear that was simply painted over the first time. I should be done around Christmas . Exciting, I know.
The dolphins were in the river early this morning, and the gulls were announcing their presence. The dolphins rush the shore to trap fish, mostly mullet, and I think the gulls reap the benefit of their work. It’s a riotous and purely enjoyable scene.
I hope you all have an easier time of it finding lunch! Have a nice day!
Lots of flooding and landslides all over our region yesterday. We’re up in the hills, so we don’t get floods, but high winds usually cause damage and we’ve had landslides in the past. We got through yesterday and the day before but at the moment there’s another storm developing, fingers crossed it won’t be so bad.
Thanks @Besoeker, I think that one’s from last month up in Northern Italy. It was really bad too. This time it struck more down here in the South and I don’t think they’ve found those two missing yet (mother and son).
I copied a video link, one of the flooded towns not too far from us.
Let’s try:
