Good morning all on this very variable day. Warm enough but a bit overcast.
The morning has had its ups and downs, went out early to the mall to get some shopping and to visit Big W for mower blades after I decided the old ones were pretty shot. The supermarket visit was a great success but Big W didn’t have the blades so it was off to Bunnings.
When I went to get the car out of the garage I noticed that the driver’s door was slightly ajar, no problem I think, I don’t have the interior light turned on anyway. Oh no, I forget about the light on the dash(?) but anyway the car started - only just. I decided that if it started all was well and the alternator would charge it enough for me to get home.
Not a bit of it! Bought the blades in Bunnings, turned the key in the ignition, the car made a valiant attempt to start and failed Waited, tried again still no luck. Rang the NRMA for a jump start, they were very good, arrived within 15 minutes (remembering it was in the undercover Bunnings car park) and got me started. He even tested the battery (it is good)…
Just arrived home and put the battery on charge. As I walked between the garage and the house it started to rain - just what I need.
I hope your Wednesday is not so woeful (can’t really complain, I should have known better)
A miserable rainy day forecast, not that I would be going out anyway.
I lead a very unexciting life, Shropshire is known as the death of ambition, a lovely place to live, beautiful market towns and countryside, but absolutely nothing happens and it is decades behind the rest of the world.
A glorious example, I did my usual morning Internet search for the local news.
The big story today is Manure Heap on Fire.
Four fire engines involved in this exciting event.
The Civic Society are also unhappy about the colour of the paint used in upgrading a very small footbridge on the outskirts on town.
It is no wonder I have heart problems with all this stress.
Have a great day everyone, Keep Calm and Carry On.
Good morning good People, rain rain and more rain here, but no complaints as the grass is becoming green again…I’m having an arthritic flare up in My joints,so the plan for most of the day is feet up,book,tv, tea and chocolate digestives …Have a good one Folks,x
I haven’t been posting for the past few days as there hasn’t been much happening, even though it was a Bank Holiday
Perhaps a better description is that even though there were a couple of events I could have gone to I just didn’t feel like doing much
So I’ve woken up a bit, especially as I realised it would be September at the end of this coming weekend
I mentioned a week or so ago that I’ve sorted my cookery books; I’m just about out of fresh food so later I’ll walk to the local shops instead of driving to a supermarket - although one of my local shops is in fact a LIDL - and buy the ingredients for actual recipes instead of just making it up
I also have an appontment to have a blood sample taken
A sudden change in the weather means a change from.our plans to visit seaside towns along the Devon and Somerset coast, so instead its a trip up to the outlet shopping park near Glastonbury, with Mrs G in full shopping mode for the day. We will wander back home tomorrow, but the weather may force us to change plans to stop on the way home. We shall see what the day brings.
Nice and sunny here in South Yorkshire but thunderstorms forecast for this aft…
Mrs Fox didn’t feel like to doing the Wednesday Tesco run, so I did it solo…
Being a rest day, I’ll just potter around the house and clear up a few jobs that I always seem to leave half done these days…
I went to change the battery in my Casio stopwatch but found it was working…So I’ll leave it for now.
It’s been a week now since Rosie’s operation and the hole in her side is looking better and the swelling has all but gone down. We take her for a post procedure check on Saturday morning, and if the vet is happy she can be let out into the big wide world…
Sorry to hear about you motor Bruce, do you think there might be a small drain on the battery when it’s stood? I doubt whether a dashboard light would flatten it overnight…Perhaps a diode in the alternator is allowing power to flow in the wrong direction…
It’s like that here Swimmy, we haven’t had electricity all that long and you don’t see many people of foreign extraction very often…Only the Doctors…And you don’t see them very often either, you have to sit through a telephone marathon before you can get anywhere near the surgery…
There are a lot of old retired farmers leaning on gates and sucking a piece of straw that tell you about the weather, or what they would plant in yon field…
Rain, rain and rain … the grass is greener, the birds are singing, the dusty roads are getting a sluice down.
Even better, i think thunderstorms have been forecast over the next few days.
