I went for my walk early as usual and there were cars circling the Mall like rabid dogs at 6.30am.
Once I was home, showered and breakfasted I started to prepare to make my potato salad. First job was to get on my hands and knees to explore the back of the cupboard to find the large pyrex dish for transporting the finished product.
To cut a long story short this is the recipe I used
At the end it looked like potato salad which was the main thing. It is now resting in the fridge ready for tomorrow.
When I was boiling the potatoes I discovered that the large front burner wasn’t working properly it seems to be on full all the time. As the stove is over 40 years old I might not try to repair it but just buy a new stove top because I never use the oven except to store things.
The package from my son in Darwin was delivered, it took 10 days to get here, I will open it in the morning. I also received an email with my concession pass from National Parks and Wildlife Service so I can enter NSW national parks for free, it has to be renewed every year.
That is my morning so far, not a cloud in the sky though the forecast is for showers tomorrow.
Enjoy your Christmas Eve - have a lot of fun and don’t stress, it will soon be over. .
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my fridge its chockablock. No room for the Broccoli that’s on the windowsill looking like a mighty brain . 3/4 of a kilo of broccoli & I’m the only one that eats the stuff !
I am really pis*ed off with companies assuming everyone has a mobile phone. There must be hundred if not thousands of people like me that don’t have one.
Good morning - It’s bright and breezy. I will have to go to the local shop (Co-op) to get bread but other than that, not much to do. Mrs mart has a friend visiting this morning and I’ll be talking to her for a while before she and Mrs mart disappear to the craft room to talk about me and craftwork.
Our eldest local son arrives this afternoon and he will be staying with us over Christmas. He has learning difficulties but is very happy playing computer games much of the time. It’s become a tradition that I buy the latest ‘Christmas Wonderland’ hidden object game for him. It’s much the same every year but with different scenes. He likes it though, so that makes buying it worthwhile.
Yesterday I went shopping at LIDL and among other items I bought a load of veg at the offer price of 5p a pack, and one of their cheapo fruit & veg boxes
I also did some shopping at M&S and Iceland
This means I now have a load of food to sort & pack away, which I will be doing for most of the morning
Then this afternoon I’ll be vacuum cleaning & general tidying
Good morning one and all this merry Christmas Eve…
Sat here in a coffee shop as the wife has suddenly decided that she needs some last minute outlet shopping, having been shopping in New York all last week.
So we’re back home and still unpacked and still a bit jet-lagged. The biting cold weather seems to have followed us home as it’s freezing cold here on the south coast. More importantly, I have 1,100 photos to go through of our trip.
Ha ha it really pis**s me off when people don’t realise that:
A) a mobile is cheaper than a land line.
B) a mobile is more convenient than a land line.
C) a mobile is just that, it is mobile.
D) a mobile has many other useful functions like camera, diary, banker, map, record player, radio etc
E) a mobile can be turned on and off at will unlike a landline.
Good afternoon everyone, it’s pouring down with rain this Christmas Eve but fortunately sunshine is forecast for tomorrow.
I’ve been busy all morning preparing dishes for tomorrow and now I’m having a break sipping a nice glass of Chianti before starting this evening’s supper later on. We don’t eat meat today so it’s fish, fish and more fish! A nice pasta dish with seafood sauce as a first course, followed by pan-fried swordfish fillets. Maybe some smoked salmon canapes as a starter. It will just be the three of us, me my son and daughter and hopefully tomorrow my mum and dad will join us, depending on my almost 92 yr-old dad who hardly ever leaves the house, his “comfort” zone.
my landline is also for the internet as well as for the phone. a mobile is far more expensive as well like £30 per month. do that is at least £60 a month for both of us £720 a year out of our joint account. that is apart from buying the phone in the first place
Apple iPhone 17 @£799.00
I think you need to shop around, - my mobile service costs $300 a year (£150) and includes all domestic, international calls, texts and 240Gb data. There are tonnes of providers out there waiting to serve you. Avoid the main providers look for wholesale agents selling the major’s services.
Sure the initial cost of a phone is higher but you can get a smart phone for as little as $100 (£50), mine cost about $400 but you can’t put a price on convenience.
Don’t have a landline but I have NBN fibre for my internet on which there is no line rental so that is a bit different.
There is plenty of competition in the mobile market, just shop around. Welcome to the 21st Century.
