Good Morning Wednesday, 1st January 2025

Good morning to everybody at the beginning of another new year. There were a few clouds earlier this morning but they seem to have disappeared on this warm summer’s day.

It is very quiet in the garden, because, I suppose for all of us, it is a public holiday, absolutely no traffic on the roads outside. Not sure if the shops will open this arvo but they are definitely shut now.

Spent some of the morning archiving my 2024 photos. “Archiving” sounds quite posh but all it means is renaming the folder and moving it to “Backed up Photos” folder. Then I created a folder called “2025”, exciting eh?

I quite enjoyed the fireworks on TV last night though I barely made it to midnight. They seem to come up with new effects and colours each year. It was interesting to see the display on the western side of the bridge too. The news reported that about 1 million people lined the harbour to watch the display this year - some had arrived at 5am to get a good position.

Did you enjoy your New Year’s Eve revelry? or was it a quiet night in like mine?

Let’s hope 2025 is even better than 2024 and that we all survive another trip round the sun.

I wonder how quickly we will get used to writing 2025

Take care, enjoy the holiday…

Happy new year all! Suddenly it’s extemely windy here right now. If it’s the winds of change then I hope they will be changes for the better.

It’s always nice to draw a line under the old year and start afresh. I’m just happy that the days here will be getting longer and the darkest nights are over.

Good morning and Happy New Year to everyone. Quiet evening at home, didn’t hear any fireworks, we live far from town. I was in bed by 10.30pm.
Just woke up to a very foggy morning, 1C out there!

Let’s all hope for peace, good health and happiness for 2025.

Morning all – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The New Year has started very wet and very windy – still that means it can only improve right?

I didn’t stay up to see in the New Year – I figured it could find its way in without me!

I think there was a competition locally to see who could set off the loudest fireworks! First lot started at 9.00 pm then it was quiet until around 11.00, again it went quiet until midnight when I thought WW3 had started! When those finished I thought that was it – until 1.30 am when there was another barrage of noise! It was so loud I was concerned about the beast.

I decided to go in early to feed the cat fully expecting little gifts after the noise last night but there was nothing! She treated me with her usual disdain and, unsurprisingly, refused to go out in the wind and rain!

Had a lovely surprise yesterday! Years ago my husband and I owned a place in Spain, sold when my husband received his terminal diagnosis. Kept in touch with some of the neighbours for a few years but that dwindled to swopping Christmas cards with one – yesterday evening he rang to wish me a happy new year! It was really lovely talking to him and catching up, such a great surprise and a lovely thought

As I am now feeling a lot better I feel able to do justice to all the chocolates and wine I was given for Christmas – I didn’t have any appetite and didn’t even have a drink last night!!

Take care - have a lovely day and lets wish for a good new year!

Good morning - on this wet and windy first day of 2025. I’m not sure if the pub will be open today but if it is, that’s where I’ll be at lunchtime. I only had a small tot of whisky at midnight for the New Year, so I reckon I’m not overdoing it.

I have to start the new prostate cancer pills today. One with a meal twice a day and two in between meals once a day. Awkward timings but I expect I’ll soon get used to it.

Just one more thing to say…

Have you had a look at @Bretrick’s YouTube channel? Lots of birds, right up your alley I would have thought. Definitely worth a visit.

Good morning all ,

I was asleep before midnight , having taken a sleeping tablet , not feeling too good , but I was waken at 3am by a waterfall from my guttering , we also had strong winds that sent bins adrift .
Today is much calmer , and im having a restful day in wrapped up and looking through Ancestry .
Have a good start to 2025 everyone …I intend to enjoy this year .

Good morning and Happy New Year from Florida!

It finally got around to being 2025 around here! We drove to Seaside yesterday, a quant little planned cottage community that has been the setting for a number of movies for some bike riding and beach walking . I think my family thought I might mutiny for all the work that’s been done here for the last few weeks, so they planned this outing as a very much appreciated treat. The temperatures was a perfect 70º (21.1ºC), so it was purely enjoyable to spend the day out in the sun.

Borrowed so you can get the perspective:

Market for picnic supplies:

The village has one of these bike stations with which I am totally fascinated. The repair station has a stand, all sorts of tools, and a bike pump well into one of the trails to turn a potentially unhappy bike ride into a success.

Today is a quiet one with Cinderella back in the ashes for the Great Undoing, putting the tree and all the decoration back in their storage containers to be hauled up the stairs and into the attic.

I wish you, your friends, and family a happy, healthy, and wonderful new year!

A favorite rendition:
