All I have done today is saw up the remaining branches with my reciprocating saw ready for the bins going out tomorrow. The most exciting thing I can do is show you a picture of the saw in its full technicolour glory!
It is very tricky to use one handed I can tell you that.
Apart from that I might go for a walk, because I mowed the grass yesterday so am at a bit of a loss as to how I am going to fill my arvo. There is always the book!
It is not bad but not as easy to use as a chainsaw. The advantage is that the blades are cheap and are thrown away when blunt whereas a chainsaw you have to sharpen. It can also just push the wood backwards and forwards rather than cutting if you donāt hold it exactly right and firmly.
The big advantage is that with the right blades it can cut other materials like metal or cut through wood and nails. Whereas a chainsaw should never do that.
Iām not feeling very lively this morning - cold, sniffly, and aching
Itās a Menās Shed session this afternoon but Iām nor feeling very enthusiastic about it
When Iāve woken up a bit more Iāll have a shower and breakfast, but I suspect Iāll give the Menās Shed a miss and spend most of the day under the duvet with a cup of tea
Fortunately I have enough food in
Iām going away for a few days, starting on Friday, I hope Iām well enough for that
In the meantime Iāll start a bit of packing at a civilised rate
Things are in a bit of disarray at the moment, as everything here is revolving around the situation with my Father in law, currently residing in hospital. Supposed to be going up to visit him today, but weāre unsure if heās going to he kept in or discharged today, and trying to speak to the hospital on the phone is a nightmare.
Such are things that I totally forgot my eye appointment yesterday.
Canāt really add anymore until I know whatās happeningā¦have a good day all.
Good afternoon everyone, on a hot September day. Youāve just reminded me @Bruce, that I should get out my mini battery-operated chainsaw and start cutting off unwanted branches on some of the trees all around our land, Iāll be ākilling two birds with one stoneā as the saying goes, pruning and at the same time providing some kindling/lighting wood to our firewood supply. No good having only logs.
Itās just that my 3 days a week fitness class is enough excercise for me! Itās really just a matter of putting my mind to it. It will have to be cooler too, before I do any strenuous work outside.
I wish your FIL a speedy recovery @Graham.

I had no idea one could could purposefully grow phytoplankton. Thatās really fascinating.

This is a home day. With the house up for sale, I spend an hour inside and out perfecting things that buyers will probably never notice. The crotons, ti, and coleus are successfully potted, but the giant crepe myrtle was up before four oāclock, deciding that I should spend the morning with a rake and the leaf blower.
Does the hospital assign a transition person or team to assist with dismissal?
There are a few to assist with discharge, to deal with paperwork and meds, other than that it will be down to me and the wife to get him home in the car.
I ask because my daughter is working with a volunteer program where they follow up with the needs of older people once they are discharged. They are still developing the model and looking for information on what works and what doesnāt.
Your FIL is very fortunate to have your wife and you to help him out! I hope he continues to improve once he gets home.

Rest day today with just an early visit to Tesco for supplies, refurb work continues to put in new freezers and rearrange all the shelves and isles, itās looking good but adds another half an hour to our shopping time walking back and forth finding where all our shopping has relocated toā¦

Finally got off to see the latest and last Downton Abbey movie (The Finale) enjoyed it but sad that it wonāt be carried on after the nineteen thirties. It would be nice to follow Downton and the characters through the second world war to the present day. I would have loved to live in those times, everything seemed so simple and uncluttered for the downstairs staffā¦I would have made a good butler I think, my attention to detail, fastidiousness, discreetness, and undying loyalty to my employer would have been legendaryā¦
I absolutely love Downton Abbey, Iāve only seen the first film so far. Two more to catch up on.

Good morning - No appointments, no jobs need doing. No nothing. A welcome day. The temperature is forecast to go into the mid-twenties today and tomorrow but it doesnāt much feel or look like it at present.
Even when the go ahead to leave has been approved, discharge can take a while because the sister on the ward has to write up the discharge papers and print them off. This being amongst her other duties at the time. If any take-home drugs are required, they have to come up from the Pharmacy before a patient can go home.
Our hospital has a discharge lounge so that patients can wait there for the drugs instead of tying up their bed on the ward. I waited an hour or so in there once. Some angry people waiting to leave were there complaining about the time the drugs were taking to arrive,
