Good Morning Tuesday, 9th September 2025

Good morning everybody on this warm but overcast day.

It’s the 9th of the 9th - it must be Sudoku Day (no idea if it is  )

Last night was very windy, it woke me up several time during the night - calmed down as the sun came up.

Got the electric chain saw out this morning to trim the trees at the front of the house away from the building.

I have a couple of days to get as much of that into the green bin as I can.

Finally remembered to book a table in the Thai restaurant at the end of my street for tomorrow night for a meal with a couple of friends, Personally I don’t think it is necessary to book midweek but they worry we might not be able to get in even though there are four other restaurants (another Thai, two Chinese and an Indian) within a 100metres and the club is only a block away.

Enjoy your Tuesday.

Take care…

When I was studying COBOL back in the late 1970s, they set up the “end of time” to be either 12/31/99 or 9/9/99. I said then, “Those are real dates. They will happen some time. What happens when they hit?”

My professor said, “We won’t be around then, so who cares?”

Well, I was certainly still going to be around them, barring unforeseen calamities, so I thought his answer was shortsighted. That’s the succinct reason for why Y2K cost so much money to prevent older programs from crashing.

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

I missed posting on here yesterday, just another example of the If it can go Wrong it Will syndrome.

Even the weather was evil, raining heavily and so cloudy I had to have the house lights on at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Huge problems with cleaning the filter to the large tropical tank, 2 hours and filthy water all over the cabinet and carpet.

Shiv had to struggle with it for over 2 hours and whilst it is back working, it is running slow, so more work to do.

My local Council has announced it is likely to go into Section 114, the Government Equivalent of a Private Company going Bankrupt.

Huge cuts announced to basic services, such as support for the elderly coming out of Hospital, but unbelievably more money being spent on cycle paths and reducing access to the Town Centre for cars.

They are spending £6 million on consultants and advertising new jobs such as business development managers on large salaries whilst reducing keeping the streets clean.

The UK is becoming a Joke.

Have a good day all and stay safe.

Good morning all. 2:17 am here been up for over a hour.

Not sure what’s go me up this night/morning? Dream? 21 days until retirement? Buying a new vehicle?

Same dream where I get buried under an avalanche.

21 days until retirement - not knowing if I’m set for retirement. Advisers say I am but I’m not feeling it.

Buying a new (2023) pickup with 39 miles on it ($43,000). Just gets me to thinking " something smells fishy in Denmark '. Giving me $18,000 for my truck? Way more than I was expecting. Was planning on putting $20,000 down. Leaving me with a $5,000 remaining. Something just doesn’t feel right.

Have some heavy loads to haul today, Wednesday and Thursday. Max explosive weight I can haul is 17,500 lbs. The three load are between 16,000 and 17,000 lbs. each. I don’t like going passed 15,000 lbs because it gives me a little wiggle room to play it very safe. I’m to close to retirement for something to go wrong now. Or maybe I’m over thinking this because I this close to retirement.

Maybe I’m overthinking everything. Like they say, the day is young and it can only get worse.

Morning everyone.

Another sunny day here on the south coast of Hampshire.

Today Mrs Graham is off to deal with my father in law with his health and legal issues, leaving me here to fend for myself. Most important chore I have is sorting out our back garden, getting some stuff to the recycling centre, pick up some parcels, maybe wash the car and possibly some online shopping. I also have to size up a small plumbing job in the kitchen for later.

So today, I will need an extra large and extra strong coffee to summon the willpower to get going. May involve a sausage sandwich in the process.

Have an excellent day everyone!

:grinning: :+1: :coffee:

The question I asked myself " what am I going to do when I retire "? . always been interested in Photography stills and video, so that answered my question.

Good idea to have a hobby one can indulge in, irrespective of weather/time of day. place

Some interesting posts this morning and I haven’t got the time to give them the attention they deserve. Daughter had some teeth out and is poorly, Mrs Fox is over the moon with her new wardrobe rail and wants another, and I’ll be passing the big Tesco at the other side of town, who incidentally do some very nice full English breakfasts…All day… :yum:
So I better get on with it… :069:
