I have just returned from over night in Sydney. I hardly recognised Central Station, the suburban line section has undergone massive renovation. When I was last there the platforms had two sets of stairs and one lift at one end of the platform, now they all have at least two sets of escalators and two lifts at each end on each platorm. They take you down to a massive concourse which more than rivals the Grand Concourse.
I took a quick photo on my phone as I was walking through the North Concourse, no more long walks through endless tunnels. It looks more like a airport (the prices in the food hall are airport prices I have to say)
You couldn’t get a bigger contrast in the weather over the last two days, Yesterday was 30°, lovely and warm, wandered about outside in the late evening in T shirt and shorts, today is is 19° and I am freezing in the middle of the day!
The weather is dark and rainy and I’m feeling a bit under it. Nothing that tea and toast won’t put right I expect. Nothing going on today thank goodness.
Morning all – heavy rain overnight which has really tested the roof repair! More heavy rain forecast for today
Hearing about the storms in Florida – has anyone got any news about surfermom? Hope she is OK
Beast behaved herself last night, still demanding cuddles and, not surprisingly, decided not to go out this morning. Only 4 days before her regular servants are back
Off for my physio appointment later - found my way to the different practice – which has very little parking so that is going to be a problem
Feeling a bit down today (well a lot actually) so will end and just wish everyone a great day
According to our news this evening the cyclone is due to hit the Tampa Bay area on Wednesday if it behaves as predicted. Two cyclones in as many weeks is pretty hard to take.
I too hope @Surfermom and all those in its path are safe.
Well it has poured with rain all morning until now, just as I’ve arrived back from the dog walk - typical! The sky has brightened and the sun is attempting to shine through the clouds. I hope it lasts because I am off to the Garden Centre with my daughter in law soon to look for some winter plants and bulbs and I don’t fancy doing the outdoor bit in the rain.
A man came yesterday to remove a small tree that was destined to grow very large and to trim the shrubs for me. The garden looks quite tidy now, just a few more jobs that I can manage myself - when it’s not raining - and the garden will be ready for winter.
I had to chuckle about this. When I bought my house someone had planted a “rubber plant” about a metre from the front verandah. These lovely little potted rubber plants with their shiny leaves are actually Morton Bay Figs which grow into this:
Good grief Bruce - from little acorns (and rubber plants) and all that!
My late husband simply pushed a twig into the ground and it took root, this was several years ago, and it did nothing much for ages but this last couple of years or so it had started to widen its girth and to grow skywards. I saw one similar, but fully grown, in someone else’s garden and decided that my garden wouldn’t be able to cope with such a giant so sadly so it had to go.
