Good Morning Tuesday, 5th November 2024

Good morning on this warmish Tuesday.

My companion for the next couple of weeks has arrived, he is such a cutie. (it’s a dog)

Went shopping this morning for a few odds and end plus a kilo of chicken necks for the dog.

Realised I needed to clear a space for his crate too (must stop calling it a cage) so organised that, he likes his bed.

Apart from that just chatted to my son, he has given me a heap of pot plants that they can’t take across state borders when they drive to Darwin next week.

He wanted to watch the Melbourne Cup but has fallen asleep because he was at work at 3am so not sure if I should wake him when it is on later.

Have a great day…

Good election eve!

@Bruce, what kind of dog? I keep thinking of getting one. Have mentally figured as a treat to clean up more. Thinking a lab mix or german shepherd mix. I have a bias for miniature schnauzers though and think golden retriever would be great. However, I keep scrolling through the animal shelters and thinking evening one or two from there would be great.

A little bit of me time. Have a great day for the good morning, folks. here’s to a good turnout for Nov 5th!

This is he. He’s buggered at the moment, normally lives in a flat so having a garden to run in and skinks to chase is a novelty, he runs until he can run no more.

He’s about 6 years old. I will take him for a walk each day. Total waste of time taking him to a dog park just stands beside me waiting for something to happen so walks it is. If it rains while we are out he looks very reproachfully at me as if it is entirely my fault, hates getting wet or his feet dirty.

BTW my son’s horse in the Melbourne Cup came last but three or four, the winner paid about $60 for the win

Good morning - A grey but dry day. The garden could do with a bit of leaf-sweeping but it won’t hurt to wait until a few more are down. The oak tree still has most of them to go.

A friend will be meeting Mrs mart outside the supermarket later to help with a full shop. I probably shouldn’t drive the car yet. Next week might be OK. A day of watching TV and a little indoor exercising is probably the order of the day.

Have a good day

Morning all – dull, grey and overcast again

I am not a dog person but he could persuade me to become one Bruce!

Receiving even more pictures from my Aussie relatives of their Christmas decorations! :christmas_tree: Told them I would send pictures of mine – except they are still in boxes in the cupboard because it is only November!

No respite from fireworks last night and there will be even more tonight

Hairdresser this morning and cleaner arriving this afternoon to discuss what I need done. Have heard from the carpenter about the summer house (he has been away on holiday hence the delay in getting back to me). While I have an idea of what I want – I have asked him to call as I would value his advice and input.

Take care - hope everyone has a great day

Good morning!
Cloudy & dull, but dry without much wind
It seems to have been like that for several days now - should be good for Bonfire Night

Nothing much planned for today, and I feel a bit tired, so I’ll just potter about, and might even get under the duvet for a couple of hours this afternoon, then watch the fireworks later.

Good Morning Everyone… :039:
It felt quite erie this morning, not a breath of wind and you could hear a pin drop (without my Hearing Enhancement Devices positioned) although it only read 10 degrees C on the outside thermometer it felt considerably warmer than that as I scurried down the street at first light.
Plenty of traffic now the kids are back at school and it was a pleasure to leave it all behind as I turned into Moor Lane. A bit annoying as a bloke with a hound turned down there just in front of me, and another bloke, without a hound turned into the lane just behind me. And blow me, there were a couple of folk walking towards me with several hounds. Busy or what! That’s the beauty of being a part time runner I could leave them all behind with a sudden burst of speed the likes of Usain Bolt…
:running_man:
Even the canal towpath was crowded with people and joggers and it was very tiring to try and find some space especially after I tried to keep pace with the lady jogger who passed me…
At least it did provide me with a fast time when I arrived home…Buggered!
A bit of excitement while having my breakfast when I noticed this chap sorting out some wiring at the top of the telegraph pole. You could say he was a bit like Earnest Shackleton who made his living by visiting poles…

That reminds me…I’ve still got my new router to install…

Hi is too cute!!! thank you also for the description and sharing the pic. I can’t wait to get a dog! I love the personality!

I dont understand why does the winner have to pay $60?

When will you get one? What breed will you chose ? This one was when I was a teenager a long time ago,

Good morning! I’ve been waiting for this day to arrive for several months now.
I am an inspector, working the election polls today! We are ready, willing and able to keep our democracy safe. And, by gosh, it will happen! There are more than a few Americans who have common sense, and don’t like lies every, single day. The only weaving done should be on looms or highways!

Have a wonderful day folks.! I sure will :grinning:

Good evening all!

We took a trip to London today, primarily to visit The Tower of London. First things first, bit of shopping at Borough Market :yum:

Then on for a swift drink at The Cheshire Cheese before visiting The Tower.

That armour doesn’t half look claustrophobic? :astonished:

Having a quiet glass of red at the moment, Chilli jnr will be making a curry later with some of the spices he bought today, wish this was my bedroom! :slightly_smiling_face:
Enjoy your evening people :+1:

Hi Besoeker!

I enjoyed my miniature schnauzer when I was younger. I like the pic you sent, a collie?

This round, I’m probably going to a shelter, leaning towards a lab mix or german shepherd mix. The hard part will be to walk out with just one. Idealistically I should retire somewhere with a little acreage and adopt more dogs.

I’m hoping 6 months to a year, maybe next week…to get it

Hi LookingForward

Yes, it was a Collie. As I said, that was quite a few decades ago. Then I retired we got a new Collie. He was a also from a shelter. Very intelligent dogs they are. Sadly, he died about a year ago. Now we have a Springer Spaniel and she is a delight.

Australians will bet on anything, $60 was the payout for a $1 win bet at the TAB. from memory the favourite would have paid $7.20 for a win but of course didn’t. Some countries talk about the odds like 3 to 1 but here it is the cash payout for a $1 bet either as a win or a place.
