One of the presents I was very pleased with at Christmas was four boxes of Bundaburg Spiced Ginger Beer. I love it but they only produce it at Christmas.
@Bruce Your day sounds perfect: sunshine, mid 20s, and a bit of car tinkering, very productive and very Australian.
As for New Year’s Eve, mine will be quiet too. I ordered seafood yesterday to take to my mom’s place. It was delivered last night around 3 a.m., believe it or not
I’m at the supermarket now, picking up some drinks and munchy food The car has been checked, and in a few more hours we’ll be on a long road trip.
Good morning - A brighter start to the day than yesterday.
I’m thinking of buying a new mattress or even a bed. I’m waking up with plenty of aches and pains lately. Maybe it’s the bed or my condition but a new bed could be the answer. The choice of mattresses is wide (although I need a single ).
I have to go for a blood sample/test at a local doctor’s surgery this afternoon
For the rest of the day I’ll continue to reply to the messages & news I had in various emails and Christmas cards
So in some ways it’s like doing homework, but more pleasant
A sunny brisk day here by the seaside, just come back from my daily walk and pick up some meds on the way. Couldn’t see the swan to feed, I’m not sure it’s still around.
It seems my flu has finally broken and is down to just a slight chesty cough. We were scheduled to go out for a meal tomorrow, but I’m not sure it will go ahead as we still have the dregs of it and not quite 100%. In the meantime, its sit around, watch the garbage on the telly and drink plenty of coffee and make my way through our stash of chocolate biscuits.
I have been carefully saving an envelope for my specsaves letters re eye sight test. What does Sue do? place a sicky mincepie right on top of it. AGGGGGGGGGG. She had only just asked if I wanted anything to eat and I said NO. I was none too pleased
I don’t mind driving in Thailand, never been quite sure if there are actually any road rules but I have found that giving way to everything in front of you works best especially as a foreigner I think if I hit anything I would be in trouble.
I really enjoy travelling by train in Thailand myself it is cheap and comfortable - with the exception of the train from Hat Yai to Alor Star which is awful.
Bruce, sorry for the late reply. I just got back to Bangkok last night.
I completely understand what you mean about traffic rules in Thailand, sometimes it really does feel like driving is more about instinct than actual rules
Letting everything go first is definitely a smart survival strategy.
As for trains in Thailand, I personally haven’t used them much, but I’ve heard from many friends that they really enjoy them. They’re affordable and quite comfortable, perfect for relaxed travel.
But when you mentioned the Hat Yai–Alor Star route… I can totally see why that one sticks in your memory Some experiences do make you love trains a little less, especially in the southern region, which I feel isn’t always very friendly to passengers.
@swimfeeders
Your trip with your son sounds like a wonderful adventure.
I arrived back home late last night, and honestly, traveling during the holidays wasn’t much fun. Everyone seemed to be on the road at the same time, even the expressways were completely jammed. It took me over ten hours, so today I ended up spending the whole day resting and sleeping.
Still, time with family is always worth it.
