Good morning everybody, it is a very chilly day with the maximum temperature only getting up to the mid/high teens, definitely cardigan time. Desperately need rain - some might arrive tomorrow (we live in hope)
Not much happening for me today I am in a day long Zoom meeting for the CPSA Senors’ Annual Conference.
Actually I just received Association Life membership which was very nice and I have already spoken on one motion and have a couple more to go today and tomorrow. It is the first time I have used Zoom for anything other than a family chat so it is quite interesting. I also have it set up on my TV to watch the speeches in comfort.
Good morning, Bruce. Interestingly I attended a Zoom meeting last night and it took me back to the pandemic when it was an effective way to conduct meetings. Last night’s meeting involved safeguarding panels from all over Scotland so saved people having to travel.
Hope your meeting goes well and good luck with your contributions.
Apart from the usual cooking & washing up I’ll be continuing with the repair/restoration of the fireside bellows
I started it yesterday and as I took it apart I found that it was full of cobwebs, dust, and most parts had a coating of encrusted smoke & tar
Also it looks like it has been repaired a few times before with many old holes from tacks, screws, and other fittings
So today I’ll be continuing the cleaning & patching
This takes quite a lot of time, deciding how to do things without causing further damage - I hope I can put it back together!
Gardener arrived yesterday, tidied the planters and planted around 100 bulbs! It will be a very colourful Spring
I brought in the lighter garden table and chairs to store over winter, the cast iron set has also been covered so the garden doesn’t look very inviting anymore
Neighbours are still on their cruise and the beast has returned home so I am on cat duty for the next two days. She showed her disapproval at being imprisoned when I arrived this morning to find she had pooped on the kitchen floor and also left droppings under the dining room table!
Bad news of the day…our washing machine has died. What actually happened was Mrs G put her sports bra in for a wash (when it says handwash only!) and the stitching came apart and two razor sharp metal strips came out, deeply scored the front glass and tore a hole in the tumbler, damaging clothes. So whilst it could be repaired, and given its age, we decided to look for another.
Looks like my new camera lens is going to have to wait for another day!!
Had a chuckle. I wondered how it scored the glass but then realised it was a front loader, I have never owned a front loader (too much bending down).
I was surprised to get two motions passed yesterday, my branch is a bit of pariah (also the biggest branch in NSW) but I think that will come to a grinding halt alter today when they reject our motion to allow branches to keep more of the membership fee.
It has to be said I miss attending the conference in person because of the piss up a group of us had Tuesday night.
The problem is the majority of the executive thinks that they are still living in the days when Baby Boomers were the dominant voting block and much courted by pollies. Unfortunately we have been replaced by the millennials we have to be more strategic.
