Another day, another state, another time zone - Am in Timber Creek in the NT and have received 1.5 hours of my life back. In Wyndham it was light by 5.30am because the northern part of the state doesn’t have the Eucla time zone - halfway between NT/SA and Perth time. Should be in Katherine tomorrow.
Good morning everyone, rainy start to the day. After yesterday’s afternoon temperatures reaching 30C, we won’t get anywhere near that today, that’s for sure. Where has our long-lasting, stable sunny Mediterranean climate gone to? Anyone seen it? It’s gone missing for years now! F
Yes, it does look like that I honestly wasn’t intentionally doing that, believe me , my fingers slipped on the keyboard as I searched for an emoji, what a coincidence though
Morning all – sunny start to the day, but rain forecast for later this evening (at least it means I won’t have to water the plants again!)
So do you feel any younger Bruce?
Well, yesterday was a nightmare. The black dog started to descend when I got up, I tried to push it away but it was soon in full residence. As a result I did very little yesterday, except to regularly burst into tears – yes I know pathetic!
Feeling better this morning and looking forward to having lunch with my sister-in-law.
Good morning! Bruce, it looks like you may be heading for greener pastures if one is to believe the map. You’ve certainly covered a big chunk of it in the last day or two.
I hope the clouds are lifting, Sheila! Have a nice lunch.
The black skimmers have arrived from their long southern migrations and are now pairing off before they start their nests in the dunes along the shoreline. The Audubon stewards rope off large swaths of dunes to nest, so the skimmers can raise their chicks uninterrupted. They do what they are named, skimming along the surface of the water with their beaks open to scoop up unsuspecting fish. Everyone loves these cartoonish looking birds that look sightless and awkwardly proportioned, but they have vertical pupils that blend in with their black feathers, and they recover from carrying around those heavy heads and beaks by sleeping with their beaks resting on the sand like dogs. Here’s a picture of a pair of newlyweds:
