Good morning all, the fog has gone now with just a borderline frost so no complaints for the first day of winter…
Nothing much planned other than our usual walks and then a curry for lunch, so may continue my jigsaw that I’m struggling with at the moment, much too much green…
Just looks like a damp day out there from my vantage point at the bedroom window.
I must get out today to one of the stores, instead of sitting indoors with my head in a book. A few bits still needed and if I’m not careful, it’ll be too late. Why does Christmas creep up on you each year?
I’d interrupted sister yesterday (phone call) on her last day off before the holiday as she was trying to juggle housework, wrapping gifts for her large family, and saying she couldn’t rescrew the battery case on some lights. Just to tell her the Lowestoft Christmas swim on the 25th has been cancelled (she had thought of taking her family to see it, but at 10am wasn’t sure). She will be at work now right up till Friday evening. I just reassured her that what doesn’t get done, won’t be a disaster.
She was wondering if any will stay away, because of restrictions, but she has enough food if they do decide (a son is taking a Turkey).
been down to tescos for the fortnights shopping ,quite empty when we arrived but the car park was getting busy when we left. Still got the beer and wine in so all set for Christmas
Morning everyone, and yes a Happy Winter Solstice to you all! I feel the same as Annie, today - that lovely feeling where I start to notice the lengthening of the days until Spring arrives. This time 49 years ago, my first born was 12 hours old, and then, more than ever, there was such a wonderful promise of what the future would bring.
So, today I will mostly be wrapping presents and finally making the bag for my hairdresser which I was supposed to do a while ago, but didn’t manage it!
Nothing planned for today except a walk through the woods with Tony.
With this new strain of virus about I’m having regrets about booking a twix-tmas holiday with Warner’s.
I just sent an email to Warner Hotels to discuss the possibility of moving my holiday to a later/safer date.
I have had a letter from the NHS advising me to keep away from crowds as I am extremely vulnerable due to my auto immune condition PMR. (Polymyalgia Rheumatica) for which I take steroids…
I really don’t feel happy about going to Warner’s now and am wondering if they will let me have a raincheck.
I have already cancelled the pantomime I was going to with family on Dec 23rd.
Bloody funny winter solstice, 31’C and the longest day of the year. Might get a spot of rain tomorrow
Received my Pfizer booster this arvo. Went shopping for a secret Santa gift in the morning, bought a Tradie’s Lunch Box, that should please someone. Am stocked up with fruit and 18 mince pies.
Overcast and cold here, I’ll probably venture downstairs with the laptop later and work in front of the wood burner with my Christmas tree lights on to get in the festive spirit. Only 2 more days and I have 10 days off, well, India are still working so I’ll still need to pick up emails etc.
Oh my do I need a break, I haven’t had one this year - last time I had 10 days off was about 2 years ago.
Happiness rules chez nous this morning. The double glazing guys pitched up at 9:15 to finish off the installation. Yippee! Only about an hour to go and they’ll be away for good.
I know the feeling, my plumbers are back on Wednesday to finish the boiler off and the plasterers are in Thursday to put the ceiling back in the utility room.
A belated good morning on one of my favourite days of the year…
…forget the Christmas nonsense I prefer the turning of the year bringing hope of another spring.
A busy morning, I had to go to the vets to collect meds, I am going to try Chloe on vivitonin to see if it improves her brain function/canine dementia. Poor old girl she is 14 on boxing day and looking her age.
Next job ironing,
