Good morning everyone, this morning I woke to the sound of rain but by 10am it had turned into a warm sunny day abet with a few clouds about, it is already warmer than the forecast maximum of 24°
I drove to my second favourite shop (after Bunnings) that is Officeworks. there is always something very satisfying about a stationery store. I had to buy a box of raffle tickets and A4 sleeves for the seniors club.
It was my first outing for days so it was nice to be out in world again even if only shopping. I also called into my PO Box to pick up a package of desiccants that I had ordered.
The ground is quite wet and the grass is leaping out of the ground but mowing will have to wait a day or two until it is a bit dryer.
It seems it only happens to me. Last night was reported a huge magnetic storm causing the northern lights to appear as far south as we are…only to hear about it the next day, as getting a good picture of the aurora borealis is high on my photography bucket list. A couple of years ago, my wife paid for a cruise to Norway for me to capture these lights - and it poured with rain the entire week and saw nothing. My next hope will be in August where I’ll be crossing the Artic circle and maybe get something then. That same trip will also be during a total eclipse, which knowing my luck, will be during a torrential storm, or some such thing. Oh, well…
My son has been to Norway a couple of times to see the Northern Lights, I keep telling him Tassie and Aurora Australis is closer but no, he just likes Norway.
I haven’t posted anything for a few days as my minor cold & sniffle came on much worse - sneezing, coughing, and generally feeling cold, miserable, aching & rotten
So I’ve spent most of the time sitting around or under the duvet & drinking tea with a dose of whisky in it
Not much on daytime TV so I’ve been watching YouTube videos on al sorts of things, including Napoleonic Wars and restoring furniture & old tools, sitting in my comfy chair, well wrapped.
Apparently this cold or bug is going around, typically lasting 3 or 4 weeks; you think it’s cleared up, and you feel OK for a day, then it comes back
A friend had this bug just before Christmas and is only now feeling better
Well I’m now into my third week; this morning I felt better, so hopefully this is the end of it.
However, it does mean that I now have an accumulation of minor jobs & errands that I had hoped would all be finished by now - send letters & emails; trip to the bank; make a dentist’s appointment; mend a bookshelf
Fortunately I always stock up with food for winter, plus I had extra for Christmas, so I was OK for food
Though on one afternoon when I didn’t feel too bad I had a drive round to keep the car & engine ticking over, and did a bit of shopping at a supermarket
Let’s hope that I, and the weather, continue to improve, and hopefully I can finish all these minor odds & ends by the end of this month…Hmmmm … tempting fate?
