Seems to be cooling slightly at the moment, but this is the overnight hours. Still. . . Whew!. . . at least for this moment.
Plan for today is a serious dose of staying as cool as possible and lots of self care. I might join an online group session in the afternoon, but that’s not high on the priority list.
Cold again, sunny this morning but a bit of rain this arvo.
Went to the ServiceNSW to renew my Driving Licence, it was too easy only waited for 15 minutes even though the place was pretty full, I think the only question the girl asked was did I want a new photo (I didn’t), they don’t print out the licence while you wait any more but they post it to you.
Printed out some new clips on my printer and watched some TV.
Good morning everyone I have been trying to get as much as I can done in the house before the excessive heat arrives including preparing lunch, next job pick some french beans to go with the cheese and potato pie and salad.
Yesterday was awful, heart issues combined with heat made it a day to get through rather than enjoy. Today I am going to write some emails and try to rest and stay cool.
Chloe is asleep in her crate under the stairs wrapped in a wet towel with a fan on looking comfortable, I was worried she wouldn’t cope with the heat but she seems fine.
It is 30°C already indoors, so I have put a chair in the garden while it is in the shade and a bit cooler than indoors for Mr M to sit and rest.
I was hoping for a cooler day tomorrow with some rain but it appears another hot day is forecast.
I think I will rustle up some cold meals today, it will be a cooker free day!
It is horrible here already All curtains closed - fans on at either end of the hall to create a through draught - fan on in sitting room at cat level, and fan on in Craft Room at my level!
We have been threatened with heavy rain (whatever that is) and thunderstorms for late afternoon. I will be behind the sofa with the cat!
Its been raining here in bright sunshine, thunder rolling around, could be an interesting day, apart from that nowt doing, oh except to check the garden lights still work for when the darker evenings are upon us, nights are pulling in sadly.
Different places are equipped differently if it’s a normal temp for the region. Most people have air conditioning around here. On the flip side, not everyone has snow chains here and torrential rain can muck things up here.
I might try a little sun bathing, if it’s quiet outside, but will soon have to put lunch on to heat up. (Supper will need to be a quick sandwich before going out again.)
Had a trip to see the Dermatologist today. I have a scar from a cancer surgery some years ago. The cancer was fixed but the scar remains. Some new steroid cream has been prescribed . We shall see. Apart from that we are not doing a lot. It’s too hot. mum!
Ted, No, we’re not wimps at all. It’s because other countries are used to it, they are geared up for it. This came out the blue for us and so knocked us for six. It is freak weather for the UK.
I will just be glad when it’s all over. I can’t get on with anything I had planned. I even cancelled my exercise class this morning.
I put the dogs in the shower, that seems to have helped them from puffing and panting at least - wish it did the same for me! Within 10 mins of getting out the shower, I’m hot again.
just back from daily walk this evening, seems strange doing it this time of day 6.45pm but way way to hot to do it this morning and now still sweating from the effort
I set out at 6am with dog to walk along the promenade .
It was already warm , the sea was like mill pond and Isle of Wight looked so close in the early morning light ….magical .
Had new French doors fitted today …I thought the carpenters were in great danger of melting some how they survived the blistering temperature !
They were telling us, on the news, that this is the highest temperature ‘ever’ in the UK.
I don’t know how long they’ve had thermometers which can get down to two decimal places, but ! doubt that they bothered that much a hundred years ago, let alone ‘ever’!
