Good Morning Tuesday, 18th November 2025

Good morning one and all.

Today I am in the mining town of Cobar (copper, silver and zinc), I have been here many times before so am not doing much exploring. I am sure that one of the mines had an underground explosion recently and a couple women were killed, I don’t think it has reopened yet.

The road north from Ivanhoe was two lanes all the way (that is one in each direction) it was terrific…

After yesterday seeing no animals other than sheep and cows, today I saw hundreds if not thousands of feral goats, one emu and caught a glimpse of kangaroos lying down in the shade… I have yet to see a goat as road kill though there were plenty of dead kangaroos, wombats and even a pig.

That annoying wind with overcast sky has been replaced today by a gentle breeze and horizon to horizon blue skies.

I am just going to relax this arvo and read my food after yesterdays dinner at the club today will probably be instant noodles or a cheese sandwich, choices, choices! Whatever I decide, first I am going to enjoy a nice cold beer.

Enjoy your day too.

Take care…

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

I am enjoying reading about your trips Bruce, very entertaining.

Here in Shrewsbury it is cold, only 2C, the river is still high, with the main Car Parks still flooded and the Council Offices still cut off.

We are forecast sleet and some snow tomorrow, winter is definitely here, the Christmas Lights are being turned on tomorrow.

We have made the national news due to the stupidity of our Council and a new traffic scheme…

At a cost of several Million GB Pounds they have managed to add 30 minutes to what was a 15 minute journey

I am still stuck lying down, leg is still leaking .

Apart from that it is life as usual.

Enjoy your day.

Good morning - It’s the first morning there has been frost visible on the roofs but no doubt, not the last. The heating is on but it always takes a while to warm the place up. I’m glad we bought a few ceramic radiators to supplement the gas central heating. They warm the house up very quickly.

Got up late this morning much to the worry of our son. I told him it was only because I was comfortable and warm, rather than because I felt ill. Up and about now and have even managed a bit of a clean and tidy up. I’m thinking about combing my hair and having a shave but don’t want to overdo things.

Have the best possible day

Morning all…

Almost frosty outside here in south Hampshire.

Just come back from my daily walk and just found out that some of the swans in the local waterway have died due to Avian flu, namely the male and the last two remaining cygnets, leaving the female all alone. Not sure what will happen in future, but earlier there was another mating couple wanting to push in and were fought off, swans being territorial. The other issue is there is a pair of returning Canadian Geese that nest there and would often fight for space with the swans.

Apart from all that, Mrs G is off to the gym, I’m going to be clearing the drive before it starts raining, despite the cold and in badly need of my daily coffee.

Have a great day all…

:+1: :slightly_smiling_face:

Just for interest, took a quick phone pic of the female swan.

Morning everyone… :038:
Still off me walking, decided not to rush it, especially in the cold.
It got down to 3 degrees C overnight, and there was some frost on the blokes house across the street…He’s a tight old sod though and never puts his heating on… :009:

Managed to have a squint at the news this morning (Mrs Fox has it on, I’m usually off walking) and I couldn’t help noticing all the rubbish piling up in Birmingham because the bin men are on strike, and it just made me wonder why people don’t take some responsibility instead of just saying “Aw The council should do it” It’s your community! I go out and tidy up the road at the end of the cul-de-sac because the sweeper can’t get into the corners, and sometimes clear up the leaves from the path across the green. What’s wrong with some people taking their rubbish to the recycling centre when they know the bin men are on strike?

And the Police…They were blaming them for all the domestic violence that seems to occur these days…And in the next topic, they were blaming the police for all the street crime. Good heavens, in a perfect world we shouldn’t need the police, what the hell is the matter with people these days? There never seemed to be this much crime back in the day…And the police weren’t as stretched as they are now.

Good morning all!

Been to the gym first thing this morning, chest and triceps… sorted!
It’s starting to feel bloody nippy out there
Shouldn’t be surprised, tis November after all!
I’ve been thinking about getting one of these for a while now, a must for anyone over fifty :open_mouth:

Given the price of heating in the UK these things are seriously useful. I’ve had one in the past and they really are great for luxuriating in during the cold winter months.

I’m not surprised the young lady on the front of the box uses one…dressed like that, a bit nippy around the pins😮
I’ll bet you’ve never been out running in shorts like that Foxy! :grinning:

Good fine morning from Florida!

November weather in this part of the world starts with fog and with sunshine following. I was out jogging, early early. I like trail running very much; the phrase, “There are cathedrals everywhere if you just keep your eyes open,” was no truer than today, with massive pines and oaks leaning over the cool, misty paths.

That’s heartbreaking, @Graham Graham. I know gees mourn for lost mates, so I imagine she is having a tough go of it. I would be a kinder designer of nature, if given the opportunity. Good of you to be thoughtful of her.

@Bruce, Cobar sounds like the name of a mining operation - a little bleak until a search shows that it’s a nice little town with a nice park, statue tribute to miners, and some interesting side adventures.

I got to thinking about the ancient stencil paintings nearby; it’s been considered before, but how is it that cave and wall stencil paintings with similar techniques appeared across the planet about the same time? Was it a coincidence, a natural outcome of evolutionary development, the graffiti trend of a bunch of bored teenagers, who, across a few generations, managed to traverse the world 20,000 years ago and shared their culture, or a suggestion from some level of existence that we can’t yet observe?

Every day there are still more questions than answers.

So many good things to think about across open miles, while sitting in the dentist chair, sipping from a “Legend” cup, snug under a warm blanket, or sitting in a university parking lot…

It’s just so interesting to be alive…

Have a fine day!
