Went looking for a 2metre extension lead but they only had 3m ones. After that disappointment to the chemist to get a prescription filled.
The plumbers arrived at 2pm to change my hot water tank, it only took them about an hour and I think a lot of that time was draining the old tank and filling the new one. They bypassed the off peak controller (I wish I knew how) and it is heating up as I type.
Have decided to change my phone provider from Amaysim to Boost Mobile, the latter do a one year unlimited calls and texts 140GB data and unlimited International calls to 20 selected countries (I am only concerned with USA, UK, Malaysia, Indonesia and China - all of which are covered) for $200. The main reason for changing is that they use the Telstra network and while the Optus network (used by Amaysim) is nearly as good, Telstra’s universal coverage obligation means they will always be better. No more of those times when I am parked under a phone tower in the middle of nowhere with no signal because it is a Telstra only tower.
Already bought the $2 SIM card just need to get my number transferred across.
Well Swimmers to make you laugh, I have just heard on the TV and on the Internet, a woman has brought in new Barbie dolls, one with hearing aids, one with acne, one in a wheelchair, one with a plastic limb, Ken with Men’s problems, etc. she says you need to keep up with the times. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Good morning everyone dull and misty here, we only had a shower last night so i am hoping for more rain today.
Yesterday was horrid, I went to collect my prescription from the surgery and the Doctors is having building work done so I had to queue outside in the heat for ages. I can’t stand up for long my spine won’t hold me so the whole event was uncomfortable and painful.
I arrived home and started to prepare lunch (home made pizza) turned the oven on and the power went off. The trip switch wouldn’t stay on even when all other switches were off. I recently joined WHICH for a short time to look at phones and had downloaded some Trusted Tradesmen but couldn’t access them without power so had to phone my son, give him my password and get him to look up a recommended local electrician and send me the number . I rang a couple of numbers and as luck would have it one chap had just finished a job and it was too late to go to the next one some distance away so he was able to come and fix the problem of a faulty switch on the fuse board and faulty plug socket in the garage. I could have cried and hugged him with relief, with 12 kilos of newly picked plums in the freezer I was more than a little worried . In an all electric house I am so reliant on having it working. It is so difficult to get reliable tradesmen, my son has been waiting 6 months for his electrician to come and fix the outside lights.
It’s the default weather here in my corner of Scotland…raining, cool and not a sunshine in sight. I do appreciate it just now after the heat recently though.
Nothing planned for the day as yet - oh wait, yes…blocking up the nooks and crannies of this place against future spider invasions. I saw another one last night (probably looking for its partner I flung out the window previously) so I shall be doing a bit of diy today.
Have a lovely day, everybody - Swimmy, the schools are starting to return now after the summer, and all the parents and “littlies” are zooming around shops getting kitted out for their new uniforms. Its quite nice to see and makes me go “aww”
About 9am I was flying out the door for my nurse appt. I got my time wrong and got there with minutes to spare. Bp fine, as was pulse. Bloods taken, and got to take a urine sample in. Telephone consultation next week.
Then I had the cafe meet up so took Holly with me. She was good. Only 4 of us today. A little walk afterwards and home.
Should be going to writing group tonight but have already mentioned in the group email that I might miss it this week.
Haven’t got anything from the freezer for supper, so as I have a new pack of corned beef, I will either do a hash, or chips, with baked beans for supper. For lunch I think ham and cheese toastie.
We just had rumbles of thunder but they have gone north now. Sposed to have rain but not sure when that will be.
Swims, please don’t even think of self discharge till all your tests are done. Is it worth it? Get well soon.
Aft’noon all.
Not a breath of wind, and still horribly muggy here, with only about six splashes of overnight rain.
So tired of no fresh air to breathe.
The nice plumber man has been here this morning again, still trying to fix a leaky bathroom washbasin. Looks like he’s finally done it. Bet the bill’s hefty with him coming back twice within a few days. If it doesn’t work this time, I am locking him in until it does!
Need to get the car out and go into town for the post office shortly, and then the opticians to pick up some more eye drops.
That’s about it really, bet your all envious of my thrilling day.
Afternoon good folks. The usual morning stroll but short because of the heat - it was 21C at that point. Not a lot else. My wife and a neighbour have gone to the hospital to visit Ozzie’s mum. I don’t go - I think have mentioned that my immune system got comprised when I was in hospital. Now I’ll go outside give a slice of frozen melon for Max. And it still hasn’t rained yet…
