Good morning to all from a grey Canberra, it is not particularly cold but very overcast.
Of course I went to the Pompeii exhibition, it was so interesting with artefacts, Friezes and video explanations of what and where. Definitely worth the $20, a wonderful exhibition
However… What was outrageous was that I had to pay to park there! $4 an HOUR! unbelievable. Last time I went it was free.
I only took one picture in the exhibition looking down the main hall, the major rooms were off each side. This was just before I went home at about 11am, when I arrived at 9.15am there were only a dozen people there. by half past ten lots of school kids arrived (school holidays) but to be honest they were very well behaved
Only two hours sleep, then severe angina attacks, so very tired.
A lot going on today, a ruck of corals to be delivered and the first of the fish, a pair of clownfish .
When I say a pair, there are two, young clownfish are born male, then as they grow one turns into a female and then they breed and it is the male which guards the eggs.
Good morning all!
A rather drizzly kind of day, so I think we’ll stay in. It’s supposed to be much nicer tomorrow so we’ll venture into our neighbouring town of Horsham. Much posher than Creepytown with some nice shops and perhaps more to the point a very nice pub
Talking of pubs I finally made an executive decision yesterday picked up the phone and joined CAMRA.
Had a nice chat with a nice lady, paid thirty two quid and I’m anticipating the delivery of the goodies including membership card and thirty pounds worth of beer. Vouchers. I’ve been encouraged to register with their website which I’ll do today. Anyway, it’s indecently early in the morning to discuss real ale so I shall let the matter rest
Hello everyone!
Today is Songkran Day in Thailand, the day when you can splash water on others and no one gets mad! It’s also a day when people dance wildly in the streets, totally carefree. It’s a fun and joyful time because it is Thai’s new year too.
Good Morning from Foxy’s gaff…
A bit overcast this morning with the odd spot of rain but nothing too serious. Uncannily still this morning as I walked along the canal towpath, the surface of the water looked like a mirror with not a ripple in sight. I pass this old tree on my morning walks, I guess it was here a long time before those houses were built and probably has a preservation order on it. It’s certainly a lot older than me. Or my Dad God rest his soul…
Good afternoon - Mrs mart had a friend visit this morning. I didn’t do much of anything.
We walked to the doctors this afternoon and encountered roadworks that involved the footpath being blocked. A temporary coned off walkway was there but with no ramps for the kerbs. A dodgy situation for the power wheelchair but we handled it one way or another as usual. The road workers helped us out. We caught the bus back to avoid the problem on the return journey.
It is raining now. A bit of a let-down after all that sunny and warm weather. We’ would have got wet if we’d walked back.
Check in tomorrow for the next instalment of this exciting lifestyle
One of my sons and my son in law are mad on micro breweries and their fancy beer. not a fan myself. Fortunately they know what I like and when we do visit establishments that only sell posh beer they know what to order for me. It is always a bit too sweet for my taste.
My taste in order of preference:
Tooheys New
Carlton Draught
VB
XXXX (Queenslanders couldn’t spell “Beer”)
They are all state based beers but these days Carlton Draught seems to be available all over the country.
