Good morning all on a cool but wet Tuesday. after a hot day yesterday it started to rain late yesterday evening and by 9 am more than 17mm had fallen. On the bright side it is nothing like as cold as the forecast predicted and will scrape up to 19/20° so not exactly warm but at least not frigid.
Soon I am off to catch the train into the 'Gong to see my specialist but the rain seems to have tapered off at the moment.
Have spent much of the morning on the phone and emailing people about the demise of the association that our seniors branch is a part of. It looks very much like it will have to fold, have no idea what will happen then.
On that cheery note I better find my umbrella and set off to the station soon (it is only a few minutes walk away) and wish you all a very good morning.
I hope not, I think age will be the deciding factor there.
Funny thing happened today, after visiting my specialist I had to go to the Chemist to get a new prescription. I was waiting to be called to the counter when a voice called, “Uncle Bruce, didn’t you see me?”
Obviously it was my niece who lives in the same suburb as me but on a new development far from the centre, I think I have got so used to seeing no one that I know any more that I don’t even look. Anyway we had a nice long chat.
I’ve arranged for my car to be repaired.
The local independent garage can’t collect it till next Monday, 19th October, but I’m retired and don’t have to go anywhere in a hurry so I can manage by walking or using my bus pass
The car can stay on the car park till then, obviously it’s not going anywhere
Hmmmm … even in the past 10 minutes or so the rain has stopped and some blue sky has appeared, so I think I’ll go for a stroll round the park
Might start on a model plane this afternoon, I haven’t made one for ages
Yet another grey and damp day here by the seaside, meaning I can’t really work on my lawn being its soaking. So today, I’m taking the wife to get her new glasses, breakfast somewhere and back home before she goes to meet her sister for all the latest family gossip. Meanwhile, I’m still going through all my hundreds of pics I took the other day at a bird sanctuary, which is taking longer than expected. Beyond that, a few house chores and maybe watch a film or two. Nothing really overly exciting.
Stopped raining and the sky is clear blue, with some fluffy bits here and there - temp around 17 degrees at the moment.
The fair packed up last night and silently moved out, leaving no trace as if they were never here at all. It always amazes me how they do that so swiftly without disturbing anyone!
They’ll be back in a couple of weeks, but as a much smaller fair this time.
If it stays dry, i can finish what i started yesterday until the rain came and stopped me in my tracks.
I’ve already filled up one garden waste bin, which they emptied this morning, but it will be full to the brim again by this evening.
The council charge approx £50 extra per year on top of the council tax, to collect garden waste, so i may as well get my money’s worth!
A constant drizzle here, no complaints, the reservoirs are still at an appallingly low level. Chilli jnr is out on a college trip with his peers in London, all very artistic and creative!
