Good Morning Tuesday, 10th December 2024

Good morning to you all on this tepid Tuesday, temperatures only in the mid 20s today.

As promised I was at the Return and Earn early this morning getting my 10c per bottle and can, was pleased to receive $43 for my collection (430 bottles?). I was fascinated by the machine that sorted the glass bottles, plastic bottles and cans after the bar code had been read.

On the way home called into Bunnings for a small camp table, it is small but ideal to put next to your chair to hold your book and cup of tea. Until now I have been using a small folding stool as a table but the top is just a bit too small, the new one is ideal (I hope) - only 300mm high and 400mm square.

While I was there bought a new movement sensor for my car port/garage area the current one only has a high/low switch which makes it either too sensitive so the empty washing lines moving in the wind in the car port set it off or so insensitive that you have to be about 300mm away to get the light on.

Basically spent the money from the bottle return at Bunnings!

It rained 1mm overnight so I am waiting for the grass to dry so I can mow my front garden and the council verge, shouldn’t be too long.

My daughter is staying on the weekend so it looks like a meal at the club on Saturday night, she did tell me why she is visiting but I have forgotten the reason. Just remembered, she is in a four wheel driving competition (I think it is a competition). Have to get one of the spare rooms ready for her.

Anyway that’s my news for this morning. What are you good folks up to today?

Take care…

Fascinated by a machine? We saw a robot lawn mower in action this morning. To say the dog was gobsmacked would be an understatement and she thought it was something that had to be chased.Although it was going so slow it wouldn’t have needed much.

Good morning all!

Grey skies, drizzle and a breeze here in Sussex. I really must make a start on the Christmas cards, time is creeping by. A day of domestic chores for me, having the new freezer delivered on Thursday so the kitchen needs to be up to scratch. I’ve found a new recruitment agency to register with so I’ll be in contact with them today. My CV has been professionally updated and tweaked. These days a CV often has to pass through an AI system before human eyes even glance at it. Mine is running at 88% which means it should get through, fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Have a good day people! :+1:

Morning all – overcast, damp and cold this morning! Oh how I hate winter!!

Turned out the parcel being delivered yesterday was a Christmas present from a friend who I won’t be seeing until the New Year – so I will have at least one present under the tree

The cleaner arrived on time, immediately got to work and didn’t stop at all – I felt a bit uncomfortable having someone doing my cleaning, but she did a good job

Today there is a visit to the hairdresser booked – as I am having my hair coloured that will be 3 hours out of my life – must remember to take a book!

Take care - hope everyone has a lovely day

Good morning - No rain at present but grey skies and breezy with a temperature of 6ÂşC.

The Christmas decorations are up, including the tree. A smaller artificial one this year but it doesn’t look bad. Most of the dangly decorations have been made by Mrs mart…

The District Nurse is calling again at some time today to change the nephrostomy dressing. If she calls early early enough, we might go to the supermarket.

Have a good day

I was just working my way through the overnight forum traffic when an old runner friend turned up with a Christmas Card…
That set me back no end, but it was nice to see him and have a good catch up…
Mrs Fox is having a knees up with some friends at a pub 30 miles away…Apparently it’s central to the rest of the ladies, and guess who provided the taxi service…
So I’ve been left with a load of jobs to do before I get the call to go and retrieve her…
Lunch is top of my priority list though…
:hamburger:
6 degrees C with a cold north westerly and I was the only one wearing shorts on my walk/jog this morning, but they are my warm winter ones though…

It was very clever, once the bottle or can had been scanned it was flicked into the appropriate bin. I had nothing else to do while my bottles were sorted. I didn’t see it make a mistake either, glass, plastic or ali always went in the correct bin.

Feeling quite smug about this all my overseas cards were sent on the the last day of November and my domestic ones are written, addressed and stamped ready to send on Thursday, or Friday.

I had intended to do at least 4 per month Mr Smith, and stick another fifty in for my years tally…But unfortunately, a heart attack at the end of May slowed me down a bit…Hopefully, business as usual next year…

Who took Florida while I was away? I left in sunny 70 degree weather only to return to a 40 mph sustained northerly wind from a cold front. There are waves on the river and trees are whipping around so much that I am waiting until two to run, lest I look like those characters in cartoons in full motion with no propulsion.

The Virginia was great fun, and the cabin we chose to stay in 45 minutes from the venue was thoroughly enjoyable. Perched atop a high mountain, set back miles from the main road, it was a perfect spot for running, hiking, and letting the dogs have the run of the place. The wedding itself was lovely, and it was wonderful to spend time with so many old friends who have scattered with the wind over the years.

Nice table @Bruce! I like heat…but 40? That’s a cooker!

@Psmith, very cool on the lawnmower! I am the robot lawnmower at my house. I don’t require charging, but I do need a good croissant now and then.

Good luck with your garden work, @Eliza, the ginger, mums, and palmettos are currently staring me down, demanding some trimming. They will just have to bite their tongues for a few more days. Lucky pup to have a wide birth for a walk today!

@mart, your tress is very festive! Is that a handmade tree blanket? It’s very cheerful.

@Sheila, I hope your housekeeper works out. It sounds like she is a hard worker! I know how you feel about having someone clean. I would feel just as uncomfortable!

@OGF, you are the only one within 8,000 miles in shorts. I am venturing out later wearing everything including the living room sofa. Enjoy your free afternoon! I am struggling with this new experience of never having the house to myself. It is an - interesting - adjustment .

Here are a few pictures of the Blue Ridge Mountain cabin. The mountains appear blue because the trees release isoprene which interact with ozone during calm conditions to scatter blue light. It’s really quite a pretty effect.

Have a fine day!

Yes, Mrs mart made it. It is patchwork and quilting.

That’s a similar reason the Blue Mountains are blue, because of the eucalyptus oil released by the gum trees.

The cabin looks lovely though three storeys?, with all that space it would be one storey here I think, no stairs.

Yes, their family farm was just a few miles away from the wedding venue!

I thought she might have made it. What lovely work; I noticed it right away!

Aha! I hadn’t connected the dots on the Blue Mountains and the eucalyptus trees. Excellent!

The top story was a loft with two bedroom space, not fully enclosed, and a bathroom. The main level was the living area, master bedroom, and bathroom. The bottom story was a semi-finished basement with a pool table, washer, dryer, and workroom. I had no idea it had so much space when we rented it. If I owned it, I would finish out that bottom level and put in a proper bedroom. I think they were taking advantage of the slope to minimize roofing costs.
