Good morning one and all on yet another warm summer day, temperatures are supposed to get up into the high 20s. Went for my walk early to avoid the heat.
Finally set the washing machine off with my sheets and clothes and got them on the line, they are just about dry, will go out at noon and get then in. Funny weather, suddenly clouds over for half an hour or so then back to bright sunshine, refuses to rain.
Turned on the fridge in my car because I am spending the weekend in Canberra, - driving up tomorrow. My daughter and son in law are off to Japan skiing soon and have every weekend for at least a couple of months fully accounted for (DINKs with too much money)
Will go shopping soon for extra milk, they don’t drink it so I take my own as well as instant coffee because they only drink expresso brewed stuff - if they offer coffee by the time I get it I have forgotten I wanted it.
Will also throw in a six pack of beer - my son in law is too generous with his and he only drinks expensive stuff whereas I am more than content with Tooheys New or Carlton Draught.
Must remember to water my potted plants before I go too. Later will have to put out the bin - Oh! the thrill.
Morning all – cold, foggy start to the day although sunshine promised for later
My lovely neighbour dropped in yesterday, she usually brings in cupcakes on a Wednesday, but yesterday it was a sponge cake – great comfort food!
Sister in law rang – she has just returned from a family holiday in Spain with her son and his partner, while away her son was the victim of an unprovoked attack and “glassed” – the Spanish police wouldn’t do anything because he didn’t have any ID on him (!) and he is left with a deep cut running from the corner of his mouth to his chin! I am meeting her next week for lunch, will get the full story then
Today’s plan is to meet up with “the girls” for coffee, cake and gossip, then a main grocery shop
Enjoy your trip and have a safe journey @Bruce . @SheilaP nice to see you back ,enjoy your meet up …
Ive just unpacked my online food delivery , Chocolate Eclairs is a treat for me, and Im going to have a chicken Stir fry for dinner today ,
Noticed Im missing my Grapes so I have put in for a refund on them …
it was white over this morning ,a hard frost last night , fog came down and then lifted in a matter of minutes .
It sounds like we are well set for a decadent with Bruce providing the milk, Sheila providing the cake, and Eliza supplying the eclairs. Paddle on on over and we can sit beachside and live the good life for an hour or two.
There is nothing more promising than a road trip, @Bruce. I know you are off to see your kids, but I hope you find an interesting waysides, vistas, and (safe) wildlife. Your wide-open roads seem similar to those in our American planes states and on down through the southwest.
I am at the university working on mundane things this morning before making an effort to find an area rug for the living room. Rug stores have all but disappeared around here resulting in the onerous problem of ordering a massive item that might well have to be returned. The last one looked like a reproduced image that had been zoomed in to the point of appearing pixilated. I will probably keep the next one until they bury me and want to make sure it isn’t the product of child labor, so it will take a little research.
I am also planning to get back to the coffee table and dresser painting projects, so the big excitement will be going to Home Depot to purchase the needed stripper, plastic scraper, and 220 grade (and finer) sand paper. The trick is to keep my eyes downturned from the Biblical temptations throughout the store - fasteners, light fixtures, interesting tools…
Enjoy your friends, family, travels, and peaceful day!
