Good Morning Thursday, 4th December 2025

Good morning to everybody that ventures here.

It has been all go here this morning, we have a heat wave until Saturday evening with temps in the low to high 30s over the next few days. It is not the daytime temps that are the problem so much, it is the fact that it doesn’t really cool down at night that makes it uncomfortable. Inland you can add 10° to my coastal temperatures, they will be in the mid to high 40s

I was out early watering all my potted plants before making a visit to the doctor for my drugs. I wanted to discuss the pain in my little finger with him but that has eased considerably since yesterday. Arthritis is a bugger the way it seems to move about!

Oh yes I have to see the skin cancer doctor for a check up too, I haven’t been for years my doc reckons I should go every year.

Washed all my bedding too early this morning , together with a few clothes and it is dry already, warm temps, low humidity, slight breeze, perfect for the laundry!

The day is not done yet I have the excitement of bin day in the morning to cope with later, recycling as well as landfill this week.

Enjoy your Thursday.

Take care…

Hi

Twenty past 5 in the morning here and officially the first week of Winter.

Winters here in England are not what they used to be like when I was a child and looking forward to the snow.

Now they are just relentlessly grey, damp and boring.

As miserable and boring as life in general here in the UK.

Nothing much works, our much vaunted NHS has over 50,000 inpatients on trollies in corridors for days,no privacy and open to infection from those squeezing past.

Our Politicians more interested in throwing insults at each other than solving the problems we have.

In spite of everything I am still managing to keep amused.

My latest is attempting to cut my own hair with clippers.

How difficult can that be?

Just set them to a Number 8 blade and run them over your head.

Not as easy as it looks, fine at the front back to me ears but a disaster at the back.

Trying to get a straight line above my shirt collar has resulted in a complete mess.

My two female carers are not helping, they think it is hilarious and spend time sending photos of my attempts to each other and laughing.

I also have one eyebrow very different to the other.

All good fun, if you can’t laugh at yourself you really are a boring git.

Have a great day all and keep safe.

Good morning Swimmy!
I just set my Wahl’s to zero, zero tolerance does the job!
A bit brutal perhaps but it grows back pretty sharpish

Morning all…

Fairly mild out with a bit of a chill in the air today on the south coast of Hampshire. Mrs G is in full cleaning mode today as we need to get our decorations up as soon as possible, which will probably be this weekend, as we have a full week and a half of other things we need to fit in before we fly off to New York, coming back on the day before Christmas Eve (tired and jet-lagged), which means we won’t have time to do anything afterwards.

Before all the panic starts, time for a very large extra-strong coffee and a serious bacon roll, possibly followed by a chocolate muffin.

Have a great day all…

:slightly_smiling_face: :coffee:

Have you noticed how all the weather temperature pictures have got a shade of darker red Bruce?
The weather temperature pictures here have gone from a nice shade of green for 25 degrees C in the summer, to a fiery red in the last few years… :017:
The high 40’s in the interior does seem very hot though, but isn’t that why the population of Australia live around the edges?

I feel your pain Swimmy, the NHS is a mess, we are turning into a police state, hardly surprising really when we import so many scallies, and what’s this about ‘Facial Recognition’? I thought we’ve always recognised someone by their face first… :017:
Thin end of the wedge in my opinion.
The year 2000 and our council…Er we just want to put a few cameras up in the town centre to keep an eye on things…Yes of course, what harm can it do…

I must take issue with you Swimmy about the winters though…
2022…

2022 again…

2024…

And earlier this year…

There were quite a few more dating back to 2009 - 2010 when I was still working as a postman…

I like the idea of cutting your hair with a number 6 Swim, I do that occasionally, but use the services of the charming Kerry (I think she fancies me) I dread to think what it would look like if I did it myself…
:open_mouth:
I used to work with a Spanish bloke who looked like Jesus in the last half of the year…He hated going to the barbers, like we hate going to the dentist. So after Christmas each year he would have it all shaved off and didn’t go for a haircut again until next year…

This mornings walk went quite well with a few sprinty bits, but it was dark, cold and overcast, but at least it wasn’t raining…Am getting a few strange looks and the odd comment from people I meet…An old bloke in shorts doing his thing…
:man_walking:
Still got to put a few lights up yet but it has forecast rain after lunch, so I might have to postpone it until tomorrow.
Bin day here too Bruce, it’ll be my job to take them all in later because most people in the cul-de-sac have gone shopping…

I have been cutting my hair and beard like this for decades though I use a #2 or #3 guide. I just stand in the shower and set too. Don’t worry aout the niceties of the collar, just do everything over and over, works for me.

My brother says something similar, he regularly visits his kids in Sweden too and reckons they don’t get the snow like they used to. On the bright side he thinks that it doesn’t drizzle as much as it used to either. My abiding memory of British weather was the drizzle, enough wetness to stick all the dirt and rubbish to the footpath but not enough to wash it away.

I can’t comment because I don’t know but one swallow does not a summer make. (as the actress said to the bishop)

They have a range of colours depending on temperature ranging from blue =<0° to dark red 40+° I don’t think the colour range has changed it is purely because temperatures are higher in the 40s this weekend. Green is still there

Unless you mean the fire danger rating OGF, they did change that and reduced it to four classifications to make it less confusing. I don’t know if the red is darker…

Probably just the BBC Bruce, they have been known to adjust things to suit the agenda…

Or it is just hotter?
