Good morning everybody on a very windy Thursday. The sun is shining but the wind is a bit much.
Seniors’ meeting this morning so I have only just finished writing up the minutes also had to contact head office with policy motions for Annual Conference this year. It is all go in Wollongong
On the way home called into the supermarket for some milk and odds and ends, I was going to buy a cake from Bakers Delight but there was a queue so didn’t bother.
Yesterday I fixed my mower blades and mowed the lawn to test it out - very pleased (well, as pleased and excited as one can get over a mower )
Bins have to go out tonight but I will leave it as late as possible otherwise everything will be strewn down the street in this wind. I told you it was all go in Wollongong!
Good morning Bruce and everyone! Sending warm vibes from Thailand this Thursday. I’ve been addicted to cakes lately and my tummy shows it, but hey, happiness matters, right? Wishing you all a lovely day filled with little joys.
@User_One Good morning to you! Trust me, if you were here, I’d share a slice with you… or maybe two I keep telling myself I should cut back, but the cakes keep calling my name!
We are slowly making our way home from our extended weekend away to celebrate our anniversary and today we’ll be stopping at Lyme Regis in Dorset weather permitting. Mrs G spent mist of the day yesterday outlet shopping and I’m still trying to work out how to fit all her stuff in the back of the car.
Morning all – sunny start to the day but rain forecast for later
Got the bus into the city to meet up with a friend yesterday. We haven’t seen each other for a while so there was a lot of catching up to do – we didn’t stop talking for 3 hours and I think the café staff were thinking of charging us rent!
The forecast was for some rain later in the day and of course just as I got the bus to go home it clouded over and when it reached my stop the heavens opened! In the 2 minute walk from the bus stop to the supermarket canopy I got soaked through –waited there for the rain to ease before going to the car. When I reached home I had to change my clothes. Of course as soon as I got home the rain stopped and we had sun for the rest of the day
I had to switch off my radio this morning! Listening to LOCAL radio and they seem obsessed with three things, Grimsby beating Manchester United, Taylor Swift’s engagement to the point of what they would do if they were planning her wedding and the Netflix film “Thursday Murder Club” – yeah OK I am becoming (have become?) a grumpy old woman!
Today’s plan is the usual meet up with the “girls” for coffee, cake and gossip, followed by some grocery shopping
That cake looks delicious @Pimmy , I too had a stroke of luck shopping, found a carrot cake with $1 off because it only had a day or two before its “best before date”.
I posted a few weeks ago that I would like a new vacuum cleaner – cordless and converts into a hand held one so I can do the car, and would be easier to do the stairs
The problem is that there are so many to choose from
I had a look at those in Curry’s and became rather confused and overwhelmed by the various makes.
However, my daughter uses a Shark - don’t know which model - and is quite happy with it
I’ve had a look on the website and found a couple that look OK, so I’ll visit the store later this morning for another look, and to handle them
I suspect that whatever I get it will be subject to that well known principle of whatever you buy, in a few weeks time you’ll wish you’d bought something else
I also suspect that I will leave the store empty handed and just as confused
So there was Sue strolling down the aisle all dressed up for the big event. she looked so nice in what she was wearing. So I waited and waited watching her slowly come towards me. In the end I had to call out to her to hurry up. She said no not on this occassion. But I said yes be quicker they have got 4 crates of stella beer for sale for the price of three
I’m building an extension on to Mrs Fox’s wardrobe…It’s in the spare bedroom and it hasn’t been used as a bedroom since our daughter moved out 30 years ago. It’s basically a warehouse with everything that we can’t find a home for, and it was my office when I ran my courier business. With two large (full) fitted wardrobes, and a gap where a bed should be, so I’m filling the gap with a rail and some big mirrored sliding doors, so Mrs Fox has some extra space for her ever expanding collection of clothes…
I hate to say it, but I’ve abandoned my sudoku puzzle book…Since I arrived at the four star ones (very hard) I’ve attempted eight puzzles of which…I’ve only managed to successfully complete one…failed to finish six…and buggered one up…I used to do a couple of puzzles while having my lunch, but now they are taking longer and eating into the day when I should be doing something more constructive…Like modifying wardrobes…
Some really heavy rain yesterday for about ten minutes and that was it…The lane was as dusty and dry as it’s been all summer, so this mornings walk/jog was quite pleasant with an autumnal feel about it and a cool 13 degrees C…
Good morning from Dubai. It is hot and dusty. You can assume henceforth that “hot and dusty” applies unless I state otherwise. School started again this week. For us empty-nesters, that means “more traffic.” I am glad I moved closer to work, just to make the commute easier.
Here’s a curious traffic fact about Dubai: There are almost no unprotected left turns possible. They put barriers between the lanes, and only allow turns at traffic signals. Where they don’t want traffic signals, they put round-abouts (traffic circles for us Americans). Once when I first arrived, I was very low on gasoline. I kept driving around trying to find a petrol station, since this was before the phone-based navigation apps. I would see stations everywhere, but I couldn’t get to them because of the traffic patterns. I postulate that they prevent left turns because of the paucity of driving skills among many of those behind the wheel.
Being a bit thick I couldn’t understand why left hand turns were such a problem until it sunddenly occurred to me that you are driving on the wrong side of the road ie the right.
