Good Morning Thursday, 27th November 2025

Good morning fellow forum users.

Another warm spring day, in fact Goldilocks weather :

Just returned from my seniors meeting and completed the Minutes so major job done already.

Bin day in the morning so there is that yet to do, Not sure if it is recycling bin this week but that is collected so late these days it can wait until the morning.

I will stroll down to Supercheap Auto later to get some stuff to repair the dings in my windscreen.

That’s all the excitement for my day. Not long until the weekend for the workers out there.

Take care…

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

Much milder today, no frost and very little rain with a high of 15.

Kinga is back today after her holiday, but will be spending her time trying to find a pharmacy today which has my new medicine in stock.

The NHS has changed a lot as regards home visits, I have been having visits from community paramedics, a gp surgery paramedic, an advanced nurse practitioner, 4 different nurses and finally on Tuesday, a district nursing sister.

The problem has been going on since early october when I picked up an infection and the upper thigh when they had tried to inside a probe into a major blood vessel.

I have been confined inside, mostly on the bed whilst different treatments have failed.

Tues, the Sister who came took a series of photos of my groin and sent them off to the GP who sent them to a dermatologist who then diagnosed something different, stopped the current meds and prescribed a new one which we are now trying to find.

I now have to spend 4 weeks in bed until the medication is finished with regular photos of my groin being taken and sent off for examination.

Life is strange these days, but it seems remote medecine is the way to go.

Even the CT scans I had in hospital where reviewed online by a specialist in Australia in a matter of hours.

Enjoy your day folks.

Good morning all

@swimfeeders ,I hope you find the new meds you need ,I went through a similar problem
finding a med ,

I dont envy you being confined to bed ,and getting an infection is a nightmare , You seem
to have one problem after another. How you cope is a marvel .
Fingers crossed you recover quickly with this new med .

Im going to watch a Amy Winehouse tribute show today,I believe its the original band with a singer to replace Amy .

Have a good day all .

got up a bit late this morning and missed the budget speech yesterday.

Just had a quick look at the budget
this shows how thick and stupid our government is re petrol/electric car hybrids

Quote
"PHEVs have the capacity to drive in either electric or petrol mode
and will continue to pay fuel duty on miles driven in petrol mode.* In
recognition of this, they will be subject to a reduced eVED rate of 1.5
pence per mile upon its introduction in April 2028 – half the rate that
will apply to fully electric cars. " Unquote

Can someone with more brain than me explain how one determines the miles driven in electric or petrol mode for tax purposes
Example
OH chancellor today I drove 20 miles in petrol mode and 35 miles in electric mode .how much tax do I pay on the 55 miles driven??? or visa versa for electric v petrol doing same distance of 55 miles??? you would be paying different amount in tax

The Chanceller must be off her rocker to make this up. Typical example of a brainless person put in power who has no idea

Morning all…

A rather damp start to the day here on the south coast of Hampshire. Looks like I’m not going to be able to cut my overgrown lawn any time soon, as everything is soaking wet. Just went for my walk and feed the lonely swan that hangs around locally, but was nowhere to be seen. Not sure its still around having lost its mate and family. So today, I need to slip away and get some more Christmas presents for the wife and other bits and pieces, including a coffee somewhere and possibly a toasty sandwich.

Have a great day all…

Easy as. When my car goes for its rego check its odometer is recorded each year. This is the information available on line to anyone who cares to enter my rego number

At the bottom is the odometer reading for the past three years. Amazingly if you subtract one from the other then you have the kilometres travelled in a year and presumably the tax would be based on that and for hybrid vehicles there would be a formula, though I suspect it will be all in.

Doesn’t worry me if they went that way because I am a pensioner so my vehicle rego is free anyway (see “Registration Concession”) but at the moment the rego fee is based on the vehicle’s weight.

Really not hard is it?

Bruce we are talking about Hybrid cars
so how many miles does yours do in electric mode and how many in petrol mode. you can’t work it out even with a formula

Good morning all!

A dark and early start to the day, my light bulb that’s supposed to live forever blew last night! :sob:

I used the rechargeable LED light that I keep stashed under my desk! The moral of the story, keep spare bulbs :+1:

Hit the gym, chest and triceps today…

One of the staff members has a sense of humour, good for them… it’s bloody annoying when you have to remove all the plates when someone else has finished and simply couldn’t be bovvered! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Mission accomplished!

Have a good day people! :+1:

Just outside the am…But good afternoon anyway… :039:
Felt like summer this morning when I stepped outside, a heady 11 degrees C first thing and I skipped merrily around my three and a bit mile route. Not so many fast bits nowadays though, because I feel crap later and just sit about writing on the forum etc…

Nice day out with some friends yesterday, a few miles down the M1 and a nice garden centre for lunch. They’ve got quite a big shop to meander around while you’re dinner goes down, and then it’s back for the jam and cream scone after 2:00pm…Buy one, and get one free…Too good to miss…
:cookie:
It appears the Americans don’t know what a jam and cream scone is… :017:
So I had to use a cookie instead…
They look like this all you Yanks…
Scones

Hi

Easy.

The Government will calculate it on the best way for them to get the most possible tax for themselves.

Good morning, from the Thanksgiving of Florida!

@swimfeeders, you can’t keep a good man down - his mind anyway . You take care of yourself and find some comfort in your healthcare team getting you squared away. Perhaps you can use this time to research coral, fish, and other subjects

It’s good to see many of you out and about; I really envy those of you who can walk to take care of errands. As we are braking toward the end of the year, I noticed that I’ve out well over 30K miles on the Honda Oddity this year. Thankfully the government isn’t hanging round in the passenger seat.

This morning early run was been delayed so I could start the prep for a ridiculous amount of cooking, but as soon as I have a break, I’m off for a dose of vitamin D before returning for the big push while the movie, White Christmas is traditionally plays across the room.

There is plenty to be grateful for, especially for my friends here on the forum. Happy Thanksgiving! :turkey: :pie: :football: :champagne:

Somewhere along the line, we all came out of the woods long enough to figure out how to bake biscuits (a scone’s cousin) and jam. Quite tragically though, you all still haven’t figured out how to make biscuits and gravy, which, although admittedly comes with a cardiology appointment, explains our gloriously good moods first thing in the morning :sunny: :sunglasses:

Good afternoon everyone, it’s getting colder and colder but miraculously no rain yet today. I say “yet” because more rain is forecast this evening, after more than a week of torrential rain which has caused some flooding, landslides and fallen trees, but not too serious fortunately, I’m just so fed up with it!!
I think American “biscuits” are similar to scones, Foxy, the word “biscuit” is used differently. Just like we say “biscuits” but they say “cookies”.

Wishing you well @swimfeeders

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends.

Christmas is exactly four weeks from today, already? :astonished:

Surely you don’t think it has to be that accurate? The formula will be a calculation they will say 60:40 or 50:50.

I expect the makers claim certain figures for fuel consumption - they could use those. You’re making a problem where none exists.
