Attended my Seniors’ meeting and am about to write up the minutes.
On the way home called into my PO Box and am now the proud owner of a shiny new passport. The picture of me is terrible but you are not allowed to smile or show any expression, I think the idea is to make it easier the facial recognition but because I have a beard it never works for me anyway so I have to see an immigration officer.
Baked a carrot cake last night to use up a packet, as usual threw the icing powder in the bin (too sweet for me). Will enjoy it over the next few days then henceforward I shall only buy Coles (or Woollies) Light Fruit Cake. Annoyingly it is cheaper than making your own.

I think it is the law that passport photos look awful Bruce - I know mine doesn’t do me justice (athough others say it is a good likeness!)
Had a very lazy day yesterday – did the minimum of housework then spent most of the day reading
Today is the usual get together with the ladies for coffee, cake and gossip. Missed it last week due to my neighbour carrying out some repairs for me.
As I had to cancel my dinner plans with them last week neighbours have invited me out again tonight – looking forward to it as we always have a good time. The only problem is they insist on paying for me which I find uncomfortable. They say it is a thank you for looking after the beast while they are away but I just think I am being neighbourly.
Had a problem with my mobile phone yesterday – tried to send a text and got a message there was no sim card! Took it apart put it back together and it is now working – have no idea why that happened!

Unfortunately I’ll probably be staying in - again!
I have been prescribed some different antibiotics - Nitrofurantoin - for my bug & sore peeing, and they seem to be working; I have a couple of day’s worth yet to finish the course
Yes, my peeing is just about OK now but I feel very weak & tired; I’ve been getting up late and spending my time watching videos or TV or getting back under the duvet for a doze
A side effect of these tablets is feeling a bit queasy or loss of appetite, and I seem to have been living just off crackers & soup for a while now; perhaps that’s just as well as I haven’t felt up to any kind of proper cooking anyway
However, I do seem to be improving slowly - let’s hope it continues
Good morning - It’s sunny today. I’m going to the pub with my friend at lunchtime after some weeks of absence. I don’t much feel like it to be honest but must keep making the effort. I expect I’ll feel better for it.
Mrs mart will be going to her craft group this afternoon. I’ll probably do a bit of seasonal work in the garden.
A sunny start to another lovely Autumnal day - although rain is forecast for during the night and tomorrow. I was admiring the trees as I walked Annie dog, the leaves do look beautiful this time of the year, except when they are piling up waiting to be cleared from the drive!
I don’t have much to report really, it has been a quiet few days. This afternoon I am meeting my son, daughter in law and her Mother for afternoon tea, that should be good I quite fancy a cream scone with my cup of tea.
I hanging around our nearby university, about to lecture on the Theia hypothesis of the moon formation. I am well past the nerves and butterflies of presenting, but I got here early to make sure all the technology is working properly. Sometimes I miss the days when filmstrip ad overhead projector bulbs were the most complex troubleshooting issues I had to deal with.
@Bruce has me recalling that the cover of my kids’ first passports have a USSR cover, despite their being adopted almost a decade after it broke up. I sure like the kangaroo embossed on the Australian passport better!
I hope this antibiotic continues to work, @zuludog and that the rest of you have pleasant fall afternoon with your friends and family today.
It is quite different internally to my last passport, the electronic page is part of the photo page instead of in the middle, the photo/information page has holograms and see through pieces (like the Australian currency) with my photo.
The photo on the information page is black and white the colour version on another page. I presume this is some international agreement thing.
The old one has been added to my collection of out of date passports.
