Good morning forum folk, no walk for me this morning.
It was seniors meeting (I still haven’t written the minutes up), on my way out the door I found a Courier’s card wedged in my door. Turns out it was my documents for my British passport application.
Anyway I drove to the depot about 5km away using my precious diesel I was concerned about getting my birth certificate back purely because it was the original but there it was all safe and sound. Together with my old British passport.
Bright and sunny day here by the seaside. Nothing much going down today, drop the wife off to the gym and do some house chores. Possibly a bit of shopping. Can’t really add more than that.
Ive still got my original Birth Cert Bruce , and When my FIL died we found his original from 1920s completely different to yours or mine, like a scrap of paper .
It’s a sunny day here , and staying dry , Im going to the Theatre to see a Ghost play ,hope it don’t have too many scary moments .
Morning all – bright start to the day if a bit chilly at the moment
Further proof I am losing it (lost it??). I thought the appointment to measure up for the new counter tops was for 2.00 pm – it was for 11.00 am!! Fortunately I was dressed and looking vaguely human when the salesman arrived! He measured up and we had a good discussion and he answered all my questions. I will discuss the project with my sister-in-law and get her viewpoint although I think I will go ahead unless she can see some flaw in the plan.
Still not fitted the seal on the shower door – my neighbour’s brother was unwell and they spent the day with him.
Usual meet up with the “girls” for coffee, cake and gossip today – followed by grocery shopping
Morning All…
Just enough battery power in the laptop for a quick one.
The adjustments to my pacemaker are definitely working, I skipped, jogged and danced around my 4½ mile course three minutes (Yes! 3 minutes) faster than the best time on that course without even trying…
Anyway, suns out now and so is my chair, so I’ll read the last few chapters of my detective novel and decide whether to do some work in the garden…Those 50 Gladiolus bulbs I bought the other day won’t plant themselves and they’ll be sprouting in the bag…
Toodle pip!
PS…Took a leaf out of Eliza’s book and obtained two tickets for the local theatre to see a live concert of Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield…Erm, it won’t be him playing though…
Good morning all-
Finally we have sunshine and warm weather here, yesterday, today, and tomorrow!
I’ll be working a giant book sale at our public library late this afternoon. We sell about 1,000 used books to raise money for Friends of the Library Club. It’s great fun, as I see lots of locals and friends I normally don’t run into otherwise. Last year: my retired lawyer and his wife, my son’s bestie through school (now 55 yrs old), and previous clients from my hairdressing salon days!
@OldGreyFox , you should have the wife do a short clip of you actually running, not just atop a hill by a rock! We’d love to be impressed by the speed!
Have a wonderful day, folks! Tune in tomorrow (Arbor Day celebration) for more tidbits.
Ha Ha yes thanks RN, I haven’t figured out how to post videos yet.
But the speed is relative and would probably be better demonstrated with time lapse photography…
I wasn’t terribly impressed by the original Tubular Bells LP until I saw it at the Royal Albert Hall with a full Symphony orchestra. Whole different experience - I think Mike Oldfield was playing with them but would not swear to that, my memories of some events the mid 70s are a bit vague. I am pretty sure that I still have the orchestral version LP though.
I fell in love with Tubular Bells the very first time I heard it back in 1973 and I have continued to have a lifelong love affair with it ever since. I’ve still got the original copy on vinyl among other copies on cassette and CD. Although I consider Tubular Bells 2 to be the better of the two, it still causes the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up whenever I hear that magical intro on the piano. My daughter even has the intro on her phone so she knows it’s me who’s calling her.
I would like the intro to be played at my funeral…
I rarely listen to music these days because it’s mainly sh$te, but I never miss an opportunity to listen to the great Mike Oldfield and Tubular Bells… …Graaand Piano…!!!
