Good morning all on this warm Thursday, mid 20s today but slowly increasing to over 30° by the end of the weekend.
Same old, same old…
Before taking the dog for its morning walk set the washing machine going with half the accumulated laundry. Opened the front door to discover a parcel of 5.5litres of Cold Power laundry liquid delivered on the verandah. Can’t complain, I only ordered it on Tuesday.
Once I had returned home, breakfasted and showered I toddled off to the PO Box to discover my package of bits from China had been delivered.
Also posted the package of a birthday present for my Great Nephew, the express postage cost nearly as much as the present itself. Then it was off to the supermarket for milk…
…where I discovered that the 500gm tins of Nescafe were on special so I bought two tins (you can never have too much instant coffee )
I have a job before I put the bins out. My green bin is too heavy for me to move, it has far too much soil from my digging up roots of a plant I am trying to get rid of. I will get them out and try to hose off the soil to lighten the bin. It is probably not over 80kg but I still have to be able to move it Some of it can probably be readdressed to the red bin as that is usually nearly empty.
Well that is my day off to a moderately busy start. Enjoy your Thursday and marvel that it is nearly the weekend again!
My BH likes the Moccona coffee from Woolies. Some weeks it’s $32.50 for 400 grm others it’s just $19.90.It’s a regular thing,so you just wait.It must be part of some cunning plan to catch unwary strangers?
Hello everyone! Good day, wrapping up 11/20 here but find this more talkative than the good night channels :). Literally sitting here drinking a cup of House blend Nescafe! It helps calm and a little bit more energy.
Yep, same with Nescafe Blend 43 and Expresso - regular price now $26 special $18 - same in both Wollies and Coles just at different times.
I buy Moccona occasionally when it is on special too, I like it but Nescafe dissolves better in cold water so when I heat Moccona in the microwave I have to leave a teaspoon in it to stir in the dissolved floating blobs of coffee. No biggie.
I like the jars and use them for my Oat Bran, flour etc once they are empty.
Since writing my original post I have also been advised that I will have two dogs for the weekend, I am getting a German Shorthaired Pointer tomorrow. Should be fun! I can’t manage both of them for walks but I am pretty sure that they will wear each other out in the garden so they won’t need walking and it is only for a couple of days.
The house will be really quiet Sunday night.
At least you know already that the world didn’t end on the 20th November
Morning all – very cold with temperature below freezing overnight and just above freezing at the moment, top temperature forecast to be 3c! It is times like this I wish I was a bear, they have a fur coat and hibernate for the winter! By 8.30 my smart meter was telling me that not only was I over budget for the day but also over budget for the week!
My favourite coffee is Nescafe Gold 7 strength – the local supermarket had a special offer on it with £2 off, I now have 6 jars in my cupboard!
Was late feeding the cat this morning as I didn’t want to get out of bed! I assume she was telling me off but my education did not include being able to speak cat. Not surprisingly she decided she wouldn’t go out – I will go back in later to see if she has changed her mind
The cleaner came yesterday so we could discuss what was needed – I had a much better vibe from her than the previous one – she will start on 9th December
The carpenter had some very useful suggestions with regard to the summer house – I am now waiting for his quote – he did laugh when I told him I was spending my money before Reeves takes it!
Today it is coffee, cake and gossip with the girls – hopefully I will remember to go this time!
Good Morning Everyone from Foxy’s Arctic South Yorkshire…
It was like being slapped in the face by a frozen kipper as I stepped out of the door. Minus 4 degrees C and then some. Puffer coat, sturdy Merrell walking shoes and the warmest gloves I could find…Even the hardy paper lad had his trousers on today, and the postman who always wears shorts abandoned them some days ago…Wuss!
Managed to do some jogging but didn’t feel too good, I think gulping in the freezing cold air wasn’t doing my lungs much good.
Thanks to everyone who sent Mrs Fox good wishes…
Took her for an x-ray yesterday and they didn’t find any fractures or broken bones so they strapped her up with a leg splint and gave her some extra strong painkillers. They must have worked because she fell asleep during Coronation Street and didn’t wake up until this morning. The specialist is going to give her a telephone call and may call her in for a scan.
The traffic around the hospital was outrageous and the yard was full of ambulances. I think something was going on. I found a parking spot over a mile away and returned to sit with her.
They’ve got a new system at the A&E now, after triage we hobbled round to the minor injuries clinic where she was seen and x-rayed very quickly. Only spent about three hours there as opposed to the usual 8 hours (minimum) spent waiting in A&E…
Good morning - Cold enough to dig out the thermal underwear and warm top coat. Had to scrape ice from the car before we went into town for Mrs mart’s eye test. Back in the warm now and drinking a nice cup of tea…
Pub day today. This is the only pint I’ll have all week. My taste for occasional beers throughout the week hasn’t come back yet. It might eventually.
The Garden plants have all wilted due to the frost, so some work to do there at some time. Too blinkin’ cold out there to think about doing it today.
The ever controversial Covid jabs later this afternoon.
Good afternoon all, it seems that this freezing front everyone’s having in the UK is heading our way. On Sunday we will be getting minimum temperatures at 0c!
Way too early, hope it doesn’t last long.
This morning going into town, roads full of broken branches and plant pots (a couple of mine flew away and broke too ) after yesterday’s strong winds. We always get those when going suddenly from mild weather to freezing temps.
@OldGreyFox, glad to hear no fractures or broken bones for Mrs Fox.
Playing games on the political threads, I almost forgot to chime in!
Good to read that Mrs. @OGF did not have any broken bones. Hopefully the healing will accelerate with the splint and rest.
Also good to read that @SheilaP has a promising housekeeper.
@Rose2 , sorry to read about the pots. That must have been some weather!
I just received news that my efforts leading a regional constituency team to build a case against the national Attorney General nominee just evaporated because he has withdrawn his name. Yay! Who says there is no more bipartisanship in this country Suddenly I have a bunch of unexpected free time. .
All this happened while I was vacuuming the house and starting Operation Spider. Now that the mosquitos have ceased their epidermal invasion, it’s time to remove the house spiders to more productive locations outdoors. Since I am always careful not to harm them and it requires going up and down ten-foot ladders with jars of spiders in one hand, so it is sloooooooow going .
Other than making a giant pot of chili and a pan of cornbread, that should take care of the day.
