Good morning all, Yesterday arvo had a real Southerly Buster, the temperature dropped from 35° to 24° in about 20 minutes and the wind picked up for a similar period. Southerly Busters seem to be a disappearing climate feature, they used to be common but I can’t remember the last one.
I was up early to catch the bus to visit my surgeon this morning. I took the patch off my eye and could see just fine. The bus trip was horrendous, there was 10,000litres of molasses spilt onto the F6 after a truck crash so the road was closed northbound forcing all the traffic onto the old Princes Highway.
Anyway I did get there, paid for his services, he had a look at my eye said all was well and I have an appointment in a month’s time, presumably to look at doing the other eye and check this one is OK.
My daughter left early this morning after a very brief visit she is going to a Suzuki 4 wheel drive muster somewhere west of Sydney.
I am not allowed to drive until tomorrow.
Bin day tomorrow morning but I only have the green bin to put out, though I might fill the red bin with some cut up branches just to put it out.
Glad the op went ok Bruce. I was referred to a specialist cararact company by SpecSavers opticians the other day. They ran a series of eye examinations using 4/5 different machines and concluded only very little cataract showed up . The thought of messing about with my eyes
Having a stent put into one eye was bad enough. They can do very little about Glaucome unfrotunately, just drops in the eye to stop it getting worse.
At least I got my driving licence back valid for3years
It was -6C with the chill factor yesterday and overnight and still cold today.
Insurance Companies work at a snails pace and seemingly not at all during half term week for the schools.
Another surveyor allegedly due tomorrow and specialist cleaners for the smoke damage arrive Monday.
They seem to have a distinct lack of communication internally, cleaning the stairlift is good, but it also needs the electric socket rewiring before it can be serviced.
The wiring upstairs is useless, much of it melted and it needs replacing before the gas boiler can be used.
I have 2 Calor Gas heaters down stairs, which are costing a fortune and only one socket on a spur to run the fish tanks and wifi etc.
Well I didn’t mend my bookshelf after all
I don’t know if it was the tail end of my flu or what, but after I Posted yesterday I very quickly felt really tired, so I got under the duvet for the rest of the morning, and slept
I didn’t feel any better by the afternoon so I just sat in my comfy chair and read my book
Fortunately I didn’t have any sneezing or sniffles, just tired
I’m not much better this morning so I think it will be another easy, lazy day
That’s one of the advantages of being retired and living on your own, which obviously has these sort of advantages
Yet one way or another I don’t seem to have done anything much useful so far this year, and it’s getting a bit tiresome. I can’t help the feeling that the days are just drifting by… or perhaps I’m just getting old
Anyone else have similar feelings?
Weather here is a bit grey, but at least it’s stopped raining for the moment. Not sure what’s going down today, have to take the wife to the gym later, maybe do a bit of shopping online after. Just come back from my daily walk and noticed the swans are back and the water levels are unsurprisingly as high as I can remember, nearly reaching the level of the drain to prevent overspill. Usually this time of year, we go to the bird sanctuary and get some nice pictures, but the mud, rain and cold has put a damper on that. Besides, it’s the schools half-term, which means it would be busy with kids.
Anyways, my coffee and toasty sandwich awaits. Have a great day all…
Some coarsely chopped fresh chillies, garlic and extra virgin olive oil. I’m going to chuck the chillies and garlic into the oil for a couple of hours and let it work it’s magic.
One of yesterday’s semi stale baguettes from the convenience shop…
