Not much to report from my neck of the woods, there was about 8mm of very welcome rain overnight and more expected over the next few days as a high over NZ funnels moisture from the warm Pacific onto the NSW coast.
Probably the most exciting thing for me today is putting the bins out for collection tomorrow, I hope your day is a bit more exciting than mine.
Have spent a bit of the morning on the phone, one of my friends is in hospital after a fall - actually more of a gentle collapse but hopefully she will be home soon. I am going to give her a copy of the film that @swimfeeders put up a while back of chair exercises, I think it will be very good for her as it sounds very similar to the physio she is being taught in the hospital and she will learn Scottish at the same time.
Good morning all @Bruce I’m really glad to hear the rain has finally arrived, you must be enjoying that much-needed freshness and moisture. It always feels like the land (and the soul) can breathe again after a good rain.
This morning I woke up and did my usual routine: watered the plants, did a bit of house cleaning, and cooked some food for my son who had an early university exam. After that, I sat down with YouTube and came across a video of a man who has only two weeks left to live. One sentence really stayed with me, and I wanted to share it with everyone:
“Don’t wait, don’t postpone, don’t sacrifice your life for things that don’t matter.”
I hope it resonates with others as much as it did with me.
Now I think it’s time for me to shower and get ready for work. After work, I’ll be driving out to have dinner with an old high-school friend, a nice way to end the day.
Take care, everyone
Wet and rainy here on the south coast, which means no walk for me, unless it clears up later.
Not a lot going on here today, the wife is off to the gym later despite still carrying the last dregs of flu we both had over Christmas. Meanwhile, its coffee time for me and trying to decide to have either a bacon or sausage sandwich.
Morning awl ! My dear wife and our neighbour are having a chat and I am waiting for regular taxi for trip to the hospital - it’s a four hour trip but just five minutes in that huge bloody machine every day…
Just a kind of tying up loose ends sort of day.
I’m gathering some paperwork ready for a phone meeting first thing tomorrow morning, I love paperwork
At least it’s not all digital!
Some old finds from The Thames foreshore. I keep them on a small table in the front room, visible but hopefully not vulnerable. They need a gentle soak in a container of Lukewarm soapy water. They were probably less vulnerable rolling around the bottom of the river than in my tender care!
Only here for 2 hours, I managed an hour asleep, breakfast made, coffee made, washing up done, clothes washed and on the electric dryer, house plants trimmed and fed, widow sills washed down and polished, both aquariums fed and glass cleaned.
Aye Up from South Yorkshire and the legend that is OldGreyFox…
Nice morning just a bit on the chilly side at 4 degrees C, but good enough for shorts.
Some very fast sprints but fewer. I remember Doctor Michael Mosley recommending short sharp exercise rather than long slow stuff, the test results found that just 30 seconds of intense pedalling on an exercise bike x 3 with rests in between made more difference than an hour of steady biking.
So based on that, and the fact that I can’t run at any pace for longer than two minutes, I do about 5 eyeballs out sessions, sprinting for just 60 seconds, and I don’t get home bushwhacked…
I’ve got this internet thingy on my bedside table that was supplied by the coronary department at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield following the fitting of my ICD (Implanted Cardiac Device) and each night it downloads information to the hospital from my ICD about the day’s heart performance.
It doesn’t do very much except I’ve noticed over the months that at 3:50 am each morning when I get up for the toilet, it’s downloading stuff for a few minutes.
It looks quite impressive in a dark room because it has lots of flashing lights, but recently it has been downloading at odd times and I don’t know why…
Perhaps an annual checkup is due and it’s collecting data to assess my heart health…Or has it noticed unusual heart activity…It’s not an emergency device, but a phone call or a letter from the hospital to attend an appointment might be scheduled…I’ll just have to wait and see…
Had a few days this week where I needed the attention of the Pharmacist, who gave me excellent care and adjusted my BP meds and did follow up calls , and will do next week .
So I did no walking this week apart from Monday when I went to see a nurse , but I intend to get back to a routine again next week .
Ive been invited to a Concert on Friday and I don’t want to miss it ,should be good .
Good afternoon everyone, another sunny day today but so cold and frosty this morning when I went into town for the weekly shopping. It was nearly 10am but still only 2C.
I almost got my telescope out last night when I popped outside to get some firewood, I noticed a beautiful, clear starry sky with Orion’s belt particularly visible, but I changed my mind quickly, much too cold! It’s a shame that this is the best time of year for star gazing but also the coldest!!
Stay warm everyone and all the best to you @Besoeker.
Hope everything turns out well @OldGreyFox.
@Rose2
I also saw Orion stars a couple of nights ago when I let the dog out ,had a look last night but didnt see it .
I was chuffed to have recognised it , I did google to be sure .
