Good Morning Thursday 12th September 2024

Good morning all, compared to yesterday today is positively frigid, I think it is not even getting up to 20° today.

Senior’s meeting this morning so it is time to write up the minutes before I start to get the things together on my list for travelling and loading up the car.

Might go to the servo this arvo to pump up the tyres and top up with fuel otherwise it will have to wait for the morning

Anyway have a lovely day whatever the weather. Take care

The Wanderer.

I suspect that when you were a child your parents could never find you Bruce. :grinning:

Good morning - I saw frost on the neighbour’s roof this morning. It is only 7ºC out there at the moment. I hope the tomato plants are sheltered enough to survive. It’s forecast to be warming up again tomorrow.

A trip to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions later. Also, I have to prepare for an overnight stay in hospital (Friday into Saturday). Have to be there by 7.00 a.m. tomorrow, showered and available. No lazing about for me in the morning.

Morning all – another bright sunny start to the day, although a little chilly

The beast is continuing to behave herself and not leaving any little gifts, although I do think she is getting lonely (do cats get lonely?). This morning while I was waiting for her to make up her mind about whether to leave the house, my knee suddenly gave out and I had to sit down and she immediately jumped onto my lap! :astonished:

My shopping trip yesterday was a bust! I couldn’t find a towel rail or loo roll holder which would fit so when I got home I looked online and found some which are self-adhesive. The reviews are good, all except one which said it fell off after a month. Now I would normally ask my neighbour for his advice on this but as he is currently sunning himself in Spain I thought I would ask the more practical members of this site what their opinions are.

Later this morning I will be meeting up with the usual group for coffee (will forego the cake) and a bit of a gossip.

Take care – have a great day

Good Morning Chaps and Chapesses, and anyone who falls outside of those categories…We still love you…
I think microsoft have fallen out with me, each morning when I boot up my computer they used to post beautiful photographs, but for the last week or two…Nothing…Just the blue screen of death… :face_exhaling:
You’re right Mart, very cold this morning, even my outside thermometer has packed up, and the pigeons are congregating around the chimney pots trying to find a bit of warmth…

Well this ones feeling the cold anyway…
I didn’t get off for my scones yesterday, instead I started a jigsaw (has it come to this?)
And I enjoyed it so much I spent the rest of the day trying to assemble it…There were only 50 pieces… :astonished:…Only kidding, it’s 500 pieces and remains not even half done yet…Its been ages since I did a jigsaw…
Well it won’t get done today because with the promise of a nice day I’m off to pick up our friends and neighbours and have a drive out to Bridlington in about an hours time.
Perhaps I’ll get my scones today…
:cookie:
Give my regards to Millie Sheila, and give her a cuddle from me…

Good morning everyone.

It’s jolly cold here too! The indoor thermometer reads only 15C, so it’s winter woollies on for me today. The sunshine gives a deceptive feel because the wind is chilly. However, I enjoyed the dog walk across the fields and was snug in my winter coat, Annie dog wore her coat too - she’s a greyhound so feels the cold. There were plenty of dog walkers around this morning, all in their winter coats - the walkers that is not their dogs. As @mart says though, it’s supposed to get warmer tomorrow.

Enjoy your trip @Bruce, you certainly like to get out and about. A trip to Bridlington sounds just the ticket @OldGreyFox especially with a scone thrown in for good measure! I hope you are able to find the right sized fitments @SheilaP it’s so annoying when folks take these things with them when they move - I remember that when we moved here the previous occupants had even taken the lightbulbs with them. Mind you, they left a pile of rubbish for us to clear in the garage! I hope your overnight stay in the hospital goes ok mart - not a nice prospect but you will be home again on Saturday.

I hope to get some gardening done today, the front garden needs tidying up. Maybe the chill wind will drop later. I also want to repot some Salvias that have outgrown their original pots. One of them is called Hot Lips - what a brilliant name for a plant, the little flowers look like lips touched with red lipstick too.

Happy Friday everyone - whoops, senior moment! Happy Thursday!

If self-adhesive by suction, they do tend to drop off the wall. Usually at night with a dreadful racket that wakes you up wondering “What on earth was that!!” (or similar). I’ve had that with a few bathroom items that seem to stick firmly to the tiles to start with. If they are sticky pads sticking on wallpaper or tiles, I still wouldn’t trust them. There’s usually a way to put them up with screws and rawlplugs with slight modification.

Do you mean an ‘error’ blue screen of death? If not, it might just be that ‘Windows Spotlight’ is not working. Right-click on the Desktop. Go to: Personalise > Lock screen > Personalise your lock screen. There’s drop down box there where you can choose ‘Windows Spotlight’.

If it’s already turned on and there are no other problems, you’re not alone. Type: ‘Windows Spotlight not working’ into your favourite search engine for possible cures.

I find jigsaws are a good way of passing the time. There are online free ones but I reckon the best one is a paid-for program called ‘BrainsBreaker’

Thanks Mart, I hope you’re back at home now after your brief hospital stay and all the tests are favourable… :+1:
I might have been a bit dramatic with the ‘Blue Screen of Death’ description…
When I first bought this laptop about six years ago it had windows 10 installed.
Ever since then microsoft have been sending me pictures of various things before I enter my pin. I didn’t really want the pictures, but after a while I got used to them and thought what harm will they do.
My desktop screen is set at plain blue with just a couple of icons down the side, I don’t like fuss, so no pictures or photos of the wife and kids, or beautiful country scenes, just plain blue…
So now I don’t get the pictures anymore, it’s just plain blue, so they must have been getting bored with me never clicking on bait they leave around on the pictures.

Ah yes, jigsaws. I try to spend as little time as I can looking at screens Mart. I’m not much of a computer games sort of bloke, much more comfy actually handling the pieces on a table or specially crafted jigsaw puzzle board…Nothing like the cut and thrust of shuffling through 500 pieces of German cut cardboard puzzles. I find the German ones are more precise…
Here is my first jigsaw in over fifty, nay, sixty years, but I find it’s like riding a bike (certainly not an electric one) you never forget how to do it…

I know you ride electric Mart, as does Spitty, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that…Except it’s not for me… :009:
There’s a bit of a story behind that particular picture on the jigsaw, but I’ve kept you talking long enough so I’ll save it for another day…
