Good morning everybody on this lovely sunny Thursday morning. We are definitely on the home stretch to Christmas.
It was my seniors meeting earlier, the last one for the year, so I am a little late starting this thread.
Was up especially early as I wanted to make use of the warm weather to wash my bedding and dirty clothes and get them on the line before I went out. As I write this I have collected it all from the line and will remake the bed shortly.
On my way to the meeting I called into my PO Box and found not one but two HDDs waiting for me, one from the USA (a Red WD 4TB drive for my NAS) and a Blue WD 4TB drive for my computer . The latter is to hold the larger files created by my new camcorder and replaces the old 2TB drive I previously installed (to be honest it might be a bit of over kill on my part)
Anyway I can relax for the rest of the day (well, after installing those HDDs) as the meeting minutes are done so the rest of the day is mine. Not to forget the excitement of Bin Day yet to come.
Good morning - Another grey chilly morning. All to do with the current high pressure not shifting the clouds around (so I hear).
Off to get my RSV (respiratory syncytial virus - Wow!) jab this morning, then on to do some Christmas shopping. The rest of the day is my own …or should be.
Morning all – yet another grey day – still not long till Christmas!
Had a busy day yesterday but didn’t get as much done as I wanted. Christmas decorations are still in the cupboard! They will definitely be coming out today (perhaps!)
Picked up my new DVD player, read the instructions and looks a bit more complicated than I thought so will attempt to deal with that today (may have to call for help from my more technically minded neighbour!)
As the new blinds are being fitted today I will miss my usual coffee, cake and gossip with the girls and as my visitors will be here next week seems I won’t get to see them all until after Christmas (sob sob!)
Grey here too , Im a waiting my food delivery , some nice goodies for Christmas , just hope I can leave them alone , or will they be gobbled up before the day or week , .
Mince Pies , Chocolate Log, Puddings of every description.
After I need to go get my Repeat Prescription , Im hoping all will be there , Ive had one tablet missing each time for months and its meant me going over and over …
wow what a day it has been today. First had to go to the next town to specsavers to pick up 2 pair of reading glasses. Then Sue wanted the ink carts in the printer replaced (using demo ones that came with printer) soput back ones from the old printer I scrapped. Have anotherf almost complete set of 6 different ink printer colours bar one, so ordered that from a company I always use.
On my computer saw a lot of SPAM messages. couple of scam ones as well supposedly from people I know but signed but the same person calling themselves Hillary
Got a few thing being delivered over the next few days so best be home to take in.
And now getting cold so on with the central heating
Good morning from the deceptive blue skies of Florida!
The wind has finally abated, so I didn’t stack on the usual running layers, but a mere ten feet out the door, I whipped around to add a jacked and headband for my ears before trekking out in frigid, subarctic conditions (40ºF /4.4ºC) ).
It sounds Christmasy out there with the all the decorating, treats and shopping! After hurling ornaments at the Christmas tree and pulling out the Snow Villages, I am calling it a day on decorating. The next thing to haul out of the attic are my sword and shield, so I can steel myself for Christmas shopping. This is one of the few times I miss being up north with the pretty shops and festively decorated department stores.
We are in the middle of winter king tides, so I have been requested to join the master of the house to spend most of tomorrow on my belly to stain and seal the dock pilings during a long low tide. Interestingly, I live in one of the few places in the world where we only have one high and one low tide each day. It’s mostly because the wide continental shelf and geometry of the gulf are such that the second tide is too weak to be noticed. These semi-diurnal tides are great news if you want to collect shells or enjoy two long walks on the beach each day, but not great if you are a surfer who enjoys the increase wave height that comes with tide changes - or if you are the painter of pilings .
And with that, while my contemporaries are off lunching and Christmas shopping in little boutiques, I am rolling up my sleeves and off to The Home Depot for paint rollers and stain. Ho, ho, ho!
Must admit I never thought you would get those temperatures in Florida. It rarely gets down to those figures at night where I live (except perhaps once a decade).
I think of Florida as being sub tropical, as I say it never occurred to me you could get temperatures like that because it looks like nowhere is far from the coast. I mean, I accept that places like Alice Springs goes from 0°at night to 32°C during the dry season but so unexpected that Florida even gets near freezing. So interesting.
