Good morning all you happy folks out there (and the sad ones too). Looking forward to rain over the next couple of days.
Seniors meeting this morning and last one of the year. We had a visit from our organisation’s CEO so it was quite a lively meeting with a question and answer session at the end. She certainly seems to be the broom that sweeps clean.
My son arrived from Sydney yesterday When I arrived home from the meeting my DiL and grandkids had just arrived, they are out shopping but I have a grandkid and dog to look after for a couple of days until Sunday when they all disappear to Canberra.
The sky is getting greyer and greyer though no rain has fallen yet the temperature is still in the mid 20s but the ground is as dry as!
I have put the bin out for collection in the morning and am going to sit down now and try to squeeze in a couple of episodes of Parenthood.
Today I’m off to a local zoological park for a photo shoot, a last minute arranged thing which will be followed by a Christmas light show in the evening. My only issue is not having the right lens I need for this, so I’ll have to improvise a little with what I have. Certainly not a show-stopper, but hope the weather hold out. I may have to wait until after Christmas to process them, as we’re running out of time before our New York trip.
Good morning - The morning is sunny (some cloud). A temperature of 10C. Not much to do this morning. The afternoon is taken up with the usual medical things.
Just had a toasted peanut butter and Marmite sandwich for breakfast. It was done in a clamp that is placed in the microwave for 3 minutes. Not bad but not as good as a proper toasted sandwich maker.
Good Day Everyone…
A nice sunny day forecast and Mr Hudson was right…
I’m usually out before the sun comes up these days, but at 8 degrees C and no wind, I’ll take that for the rest of the winter.
Struggled round this morning after I hurt my back lifting all the Christmas decorations down out of the loft on Tuesday. I thought it would be just a day or two of stiffness, but my back muscles weren’t keen on jogging and after sitting eating my breakfast, I couldn’t get out of the chair…
My own fault really, there is a winch that can handle 2000 lbs, I made it when I was an engineer to lift a car engine down. I didn’t have a garage in those days, and my engine needed new rings and big ends so I took it to pieces in the cold, and carried everything up into the loft where I had made a sturdy floor. After taking the block for a rebore, I assembled the rings, big ends and crankshaft in the warmth of the loft…Only problem was…how to get it down once everything had been assembled… So I made a winch with a few gears and a washing machine motor. It worked perfectly, and it also went on to lift old televisions and other heavy stuff up into the loft…Which is now an electronics workshop…
The winch has had a few modifications over the years, safety cut out switches, control boxes, stops to prevent it from pulling the roof down, and new rope. But this year I decided to manhandle all the boxes down for quickness…
Good morning from the skies of sunshine and cirrus clouds! I am off to fight the masses Christmas shopping this morning and to take a Heath Bar coffee cake to my neighbor with the health issues, I was up until two baking and watching baking shows with desserts better than mine. I am fairly sure that just watching these shows can cause weight gain.
That’s so clever! My dad did something similar, building a track with a removable cart that flanked the stairs coming out of the basement.
I would have loved to have met your Dad Surfer…
An old friend visits occasionally, we went to school together and worked on engines in his garage on many a cold winter night. He was a leading engineer at several power stations in the area including Thorpe Marsh less than a mile from here…
We sit drinking tea and discuss engineering and the old days…We forget the time…
He is currently restoring a narrow boat, it’s turning out to be something like ‘Petrocellis’ house…If you remember the detective series…
Engineers and runners are more than welcome in the Foxes residence…Everybody else, by appointment only…
got up early today for me at least. so out the front of the house and cleared out a garage roof drain hopper which had a weed grown out of it. Cleared the hopper which was full of leaves which is all i intended to do at first. So many leaves removed the block paving was covered needing the blower it be put into use.
Now I had that going decided to clear out under a hedge and the small front lawn. Now Sue had joined me and a couple of large industrial bags were quickly filled. That was it, done my bit for the day, or so I thought. The boss decided the back gardens and lawn needed clearing out so yet another 3/4 bags later job done and time for a coffee. Another day and I will tackle the roof gutters with the sky-vac machine now there are no more leaves on the trees
