Good Morning Sunday, 9th February 2025

Good morning everybody on a warm if occasionally overcast Sunday. I have just arrived back in Wollongong

I spent a pleasant morning at my daughter’s out in the garden before her friend arrived to make another visit to the Book Fair. They are collecting books for their trip to Japan next week.

I said my goodbyes to her and hubby because I won’t see them for a couple of months now, then set off for my son’s place on the north side of the city. I arrived just in time to hear the end of a blazing row between him (in Townsville) and her on the phone. I must admit I hope the marriage fails soon, the kids are old enough to understand and she is by far the laziest person I have ever come across - her phone is a permanent fixture, she never works. Anyway it is not up to me.

I spent half an hour with my grandkids before setting off back to Wollongong.

Decided to go down Macquarie Pass and while driving through Sutton Forest saw a speed trap on the side of the road. I think I was OK because my dash cam said I was doing 60kph (the speed limit).

The NSW government outsourced the radar vehicles, you often see someone parked right up against them so their radar can’t work.

He’s the bugger in the white car on the side of the road.

BTW last Friday I caught a Willy Willy in Canberra on my dash cam though it was probably caused by the traffic rather than climatic conditions. However it swept off into the road works for a fair distance before I lost sight of it.

Hope your weekend was great (mine was  )

Take care

Good morning all

The food tasting went well yesterday and the food is booked for the day , I should have took the camera but I didnt know what to expect . We were seated in a Private Office and Bowls and Plates loaded with food were brought into us, we chose 3 starters and 3 mains plus Ice cream for desert …The food we couldn’t get through was packed up to be taken home .

Last night I got news on Instagram the Christmas Show we went to in last December is taking bookings for this year , so got straight on and booked that for this coming December …
Did I say Ive booked to see Fidler on The Roof also .

It rained all day yesterday and today is grey and damp , but I heard the dawn chorus this morning .

Hope everyone as a good day .

Morning all – the day started with bright sunshine but, surprise surprise, it is now grey and cloudy

Glad you arrived back home safely Bruce – I wish I could spend a weekend with my family, however as they are 12,000 miles away that would be a bit difficult!

Yesterday did some batch cooking – made a chicken casserole and also a pasta sauce, have decanted them into individual servings ready to go into the freezer

Still suffering with a blocked ear following the flu I had a few weeks ago, nothing seems to clear it – I may call into the local pharmacy tomorrow to ask for some advice – unless some forum members have a surefire cure??

Today being Sunday I started with a full English breakfast and, as it is a day of rest, will be spending the rest of the day doing as little as possible (also because I am basically lazy!)

Take care – have a great day

Good Morning Sunday Skivers…
I’m probably going to be one of them today…
:open_mouth:
Today’s walk went without incident and it turned out to be quite pleasant. Not too cold at 6 degrees C but thick cloud prevented a nice sunrise as I walked (not jogged) along the canal towpath, I even wore my tracky bottoms…

Glad to hear that you arrived home safely Bruce. GTN spray is a form of NitroGlycerine that when sprayed under the tongue will quickly dilate blood vessels and improve the flow of blood to the heart. It can give you a headache and make you dizzy, I haven’t suffered from any of the known side effects so far. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do the same job as viagra…

Hi

Good Morning All.

I look forward to this thread, the posts are very interesting.

People live so different lives.

I had a good night for me, got 3 hours continuous sleep, managed to do my sitting down exercises and make myself a coffee.

I have only have one Carer on Sundays, been and gone, so somewhat restricted for the rest of the day.

My hobby is keeping fish, so I have a large 5ft tropical tank at the end of my hospital bed, great to look at.

I have started a new project, a 3ft Marine Tank at the other end of the bed.

It is going to be a full Reef Tank, Corals, Sea Urchins, Crabs and Fish.

A typical Yorkshireman, I am not spending £1,400 on a new tank.

I have bought a second hand tank for £125 delivered and am now converting it.

I cant do any of the heavy work myself, but it will be an interesting 6n month long project I can arrange from my bed.

All good fun.

Living is not about the days in your life, I am not going to be doing nothing, that to me is not living.

It is about the life in your days, doing what you can and enjoying it.

I will start a new thread for those who may be interested.

I hope you all have a good day.

Thats great Swimmers, don’t buy Sea Horses, unless you have them in a Tank of their own, we made that mistake, they are too slow to get to the food and starve.

Good breezy morning from Florida!

This morning, Christmas came in the form of running my hand across the trim and dressers and leaning in to find that all the newly-painted surfaces are smooth and without unsightly paintbrush lines. There is one small spot that I want to sand and touch up, but it’s coming along well. It is astonishing what the dogs can do to the walls and base trim.

Bruce, I am glad your trip was a success, right down to the sighting of a dust devil. I know you’ll miss your daughter and hope you reconnect soon.

@Eliza, the food tasting sounds like good fun. I would have a difficult time making those decisions. Well done on the “Fiddler” booking. It’s truly one of the best musicals out there.

@SheilaP planning ahead on your cooking doesn’t sound lazy to me! Enjoy your relaxation; I am jealous in a good way!

@OldGreyFox, you truly gave me the biggest chuckle of the day. Carry on.

@swimfeeders I am so pleased you are still enjoying your aquariums. For a strange reason, I receive a regular feed of coral advertisements, and I am amazed at the abundance. So many are astoundingly fluorescent - I had no idea!

@susiejaeger, I had no idea that you also had an affinity to aquariums. I am sure you get a great deal of enjoyment from your fish.

It’s downright warm here, so as soon as the blueberry muffins are out of the oven, I am off for a quick run before spending the rest of the day scooching along the baseboards with sandpaper, fill, and an assortment of painting devices in hand. Today is about as exciting as - watching paint dray .

Oh, gosh, yes! Here I’ve been blaming the dogs, but I am definitely guilty of that too!

Yep, at least I can drive to see my kids though one is now a 4200km drive away, I hope to do that in May he want me to fly but I want to make a trip of it, I don’t know how long I can keep doing that.

Canberra is just 250km of expressway away so, with a stop, 3 hours away - easy as, there is even a daily coach service from Wollongong.

.
Ah get it now! Sorry, bit slow. As I say my mother had tablets.

Great hobby, I had a tank in the UK given to me by my old man, keeping it warm and cleaning it was an ever present chore but the kids loved it. I had to get rid of the Angel fish because they kept the more colourful, interesting fish hiding in the weeds.

I agree with you about the “Good Morning” thread, it give one a little insight into the varied life of others. Love it!

It’s only a couple months, they are only in Japan for three weeks but their weekends are pretty busy camping and four wheel driving so it is a matter of grabbing a weekend when I can. We talk on the phone of course at least once a week.
