Good morning to everybody I’m sure you are all making the most of this weekend.
It was lovely warm and sunny until about half an hour ago when it has suddenly clouded over to the point that the escarpment has completely disappeared.
Spent a bit of the morning checking things like tyre pressures on my camper, even messing about with my new(ish) camcorder. Packed some clothes for my few days away at Christmas, all ready to throw in the car when I leave.
Have ordered an extra 4Tb HDD for my desktop because the videos from this camcorder take up a lot more room than my old camcorder or my compact cameras, it can replace the 2Tb old one I was using for video rips. Hopefully it won’t take too long to arrive but the post at this time of the year is unpredictable - actually it is not urgent, I’m always impatient.
Not much else to tell you, I should mow the lawn because the warm weather and the recent rain has made it go mad, you can almost see it growing. Actually since this cloud with its cooler temps has arrived I might start very soon and get it over with.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, what did you get up to?
Good morning everyone, as predicted it’s pouring down, I’ve been up since about 4.30am because of the noisy wind howling and heavy rain, despite our double glazing. It should get better in the afternoon. My mum’s invited us for lunch but I’m not sure whether I want to venture out, I’ll decide later on. Just let the cat in, he only agrees to come inside when it’s rainy, otherwise he prefers to roam around outdoors where he has a lot of free space and his own little house and shelter for sleeping.
Nearly sunrise here in West Sussex, not that I anticipate basking in the sunshine today, still wet windy and miserable. Very much an indoor kind of day, just a quick jaunt over the road to Morrisons for some essential Sunday goodies
Good morning - It is still very windy with some quite strong gusts. Rain has started as I write.
I wired in a Dementia clock yesterday. I don’t like seeing wires, so the ‘wiring’ part involved partially removing the shelf and routing the wire in some trunking that the shelf sits on.
I haven’t got Dementia (I hope) but I just think it is a pretty good clock anyway. It has several different view modes, including an analogue clock, but I find this one best.
Morning all – high winds kept me awake again last night – gusts have reduced from 65/70mph to 45mph, forecast for the rest of the day.
I like the look of that clock Mart - over the years we seem to have collected a lot of clocks but am now wondering if I have room for one more!
My lovely neighbours telephoned yesterday morning to check I was OK and to ask if I needed anything, was able to reassure them but they wouldn’t end the call until I promised I would ring them if necessary. I did jokingly ask if they could check I still had a roof! The good news is that the strong wind has blown all the fallen leaves into one corner of the garden!!
A friend rang to say a tree has come down in her garden, fortunately it missed the house and is currently wedged against the damaged garden shed. It is reported that there are around 13,000 people in the area without power – some for over 24 hours. When I lived in the cottage the power would go off if there was a strong breeze! I got used to having a supply of candles, torches and battery powered lights near to hand – found myself doing the same when this storm was forecast, fortunately I haven’t needed them.
Today I may get the Christmas decorations out - although that may make things difficult for the cleaner when she starts on Monday!
Take care - hope everyone has a relaxing enjoyable day
Some more information: This is the analogue mode. The clock comes with a remote control. Not radio controlled but UK daylight saving times are built in. Times adjust automatically.
Good Afternoon Everyone…
Nice day out yesterday but apart from the howling wind and and a few spots of rain there was not very much evidence of storm Darragh in Bridlington. The sea was calm and not what I expected to see, waves crashing over the prom… It was too cold to stand about though, so after taking a quick shot of the front I retreated into the car and headed for home…
Still windy this morning as I disappeared up the road and along the canal towpath for my early morning exercise. Hardly light, with a few branches down as I made my way through the wood, and I was just half way round when the rain started. Despite the inclement weather I was feeling good and jogged most of the way round, it also kept me warm as it was mild enough to still wear the shorts. It actually felt quite refreshing to be out in the elements.
Just a slight hickup as I reached the last hundred yards of the towpath when I came upon two fallen trees blocking the path. No wonder I hadn’t seen a single person walking the path, it took me quite a struggle to climb over them, I doubt whether yer average person would have been able to struggle over them, especially with a dog. I arrived home elated, wet and windswept but thoroughly enjoyed the experience and happy to spend the rest of the day watching the last F1 of the season with a glass of red and a substantial Sunday dinner inside me…
