Another sunny, if slightly cloudy, day here on the south coast of Hampshire.
Its house chores day here. Mrs G determined to catch up with all that needs doing. I may be out in the garden cropping down our overgrown tree and may wander off somewhere to keep out the way. I also have to write some emails to the company that is seriously trying to rip me off with a photobook I ordered. Before any of that, coffee and porridge needed.
Fun and games here yesterday! Now bear with me this is a long story:
A few months ago two neighbours along the road fell out with each other, neighbour No. 1 has a drive, neighbour No. 2 doesn’t so always parks on the road. After the falling out neighbour No. 1 bought a second car which he keeps parked in the spot where neighbour No. 2 always used to park – it is never moved! This didn’t seem to bother neighbour No. 2 as he just parked in a different, albeit less convenient, place.
Neighbour No.1 always has a daytime party on the Saturday closest to 4th July which means there are at least 6 or 7 cars parked on the road. Late Friday night (3rd July) neighbour No.2 arranged for 10 of his fellow club members to bring cars and park them on the street - result none of the people attending the party of neighbour No. 1 could find anywhere close by to park!
Petty, yes, entertaining for the rest of us also yes!
I would point out that neighbour No.1 isn’t particularly well liked as he has, at some point, upset everyone. I don’t seem to have appeared on his radar so far, although I think I know the reason for that.
I may spend the rest of the day watching for developments! Now where did I put the pop-corn!
My son is carefully drying some slightly over the hill fresh chillies in the air fryer, waste not want not!
We had a cracking day of live music yesterday, took a few pictures. Today is for being quiet
Spent most of the morning booking hotels and trains.
Yesterday I called into the local travel agent to try to have a week in London (5 days) but they had nothing that wasn’t ridiculously priced - like £1000 to £1900 for 4 days. Went on line at home and was able to book a package for 5 days for £660 including trains. I had to go the Macclesfield Staion to get the tickets printed out - they were about 1 metre long
Also booked three nights in Folkestone for £180 - my brother and I will drive down, he added my name to his insurance (stupid system why not insure the car rather than the drivers?)
This coming week we are going to have day trips to various places including Blackpool (never been) and Cheltenham (my birthplace)
Had an enjoyable evening at the pub last night. I do find it surprising that food is much cheaper in the supermarket here but eating out is far more expensive - no idea why. Also somewhat bemused as to why takeaway coffee is cheaper than coffee drank on the premises.
Anyway enjoying the UK even with overcast skies and having to pay for parking
