Good Morning Sunday, 4th May 2025

Good morning all, I am glad to say that the good weather has returned (high 20s/low 30s)

There is quite a stiff breeze from the east which is a good thing for me today. It meant I had a tail wind all morning so my fuel economy should be brilliant. Also I just washed all my dirty clothes and hung them on the line, I am hoping with the temperature and the breeze they will dry in a couple of hours.

Today I am in Julia Creek in central Queensland, am going to stay here a couple of nights just to rest a while before continuing on toward the NT. I have never been to Julia Creek before, so it is a first for me.

Easy drive today, less than 300km. Heard from my son in Bali, they have power back and he has proposed to his girlfriend on top of a volcano at dawn. He does like gestures, when I arrive they will be an engaged couple.

It is hard to believe yesterday’s weather was so different from the day before and today’s.

Have a super satisfying Sunday

Take care…

Morning all. Just off to a wildlife park with my trusty camera today, which doubles as an excuse to have a fried brekky on the way. Weather looks a bit uncertain, but will try to make the best of it.

:coffee:  :+1:

Quite a downward change in temperature but still sunny (some cloud). A family day today. All those who live in this country will be arriving around midday.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning all – colder today although the sun is shining

Ever get the feeling the Universe is against you?! My visit to the Flight Centre yesterday was a disaster. I arrived to find the shop was no longer there, I walked all around the shopping area in case it had moved. Eventually went into the only travel agent in the main shopping area, which is part of a package holiday company. They will book flights but only with their partner airlines, which doesn’t include the one airline which flies non-stop to Australia. I was planning to visit a jewellery shop and a shoe shop while I was there but by this time my knee was complaining so decided to get the bus home. I have since found out the nearest Flight Centre store is in the next city!

No plans for today – Sunday is a day of rest after all!

Take care – have a great day everyone

Good morning all, weather’s changing here too, sunshine has gone away, windy, cloudy, rain on the way this evening.
@SheilaP, I understand your disappointment, travel agencies and flight centres are becoming things of the past, we’re expected to book everything on line! It’s so annoying though when you look for this info on internet, you’re faced with endless information, different prices, alternatives, and so on. I’ve just been checking trains to go and visit my daughter, I was getting so confused but when she checked for me, while on the phone with me, she got all the correct information in a matter of seconds! I think you will all have guessed that she’s going to book the trip for me, I’m just a disaster with online bookings.

Have a good Sunday everyone, must go and check my meatloaf!

Morning Everyone…Kitchen Clock has stopped, battery failure suspected, so if it’s not morning anymore I do apologise…
I agree with you all, very sunny but cold, only 9 degrees C when I set out for my walk this morning. Decided I hadn’t put enough clothes on by the time I got a mile away from home, too late to go back now.
Went on a route I hadn’t done for a long time since I was a runner, the first couple of miles is on a quiet road and seems a lot longer than it used to be…
I had to jog a bit to keep warm…
I arrived at the river Don bridge and thought how placid it looks this morning…

I have included a photo I took in more or less the same place back in 2023 when the river was in flood and very frightening for the local residents…

I arrived at Low Lane Lock house bridge and turned off the road. This towpath will take me the three miles back home…

Arrived home tired and good for now’t, probably a bit too far these days but very happy.
I posted a picture of my Hawthorn on yesterdays thread and decided it didn’t do it justice, so here is a better one…
