Bored stupid with being in so nipped to the Sunday Market and Car Boot.
The Car Boot was almost empty, even though it had stopped raining and very few market stalls.
The plant man was there, with some amazing bargains.3 large perennials for £8, so got 18 , made it up to £50 cash to get a present and ended up with two £5 perennials.
I’ve spent the past week or so tidying out my flat
As I’ve mentioned before, one of my hobbies is making knives, and I have a box of wood offcuts from the handle making
Also I have a wooden upright chair that finally collapsed, so I’ve broken it up and I’m taking them to Clarion House, the last Socialist tea room in England
This area had a lot of industry, mainly cotton manufacture and engineering, so at one time they burned a lot of coal for the steam power, which produced a lot of smoke & pollution
Now there is a smokeless zone and Clarion House is the only place I know where they still have a open fire, so I’m taking the wood for them as it seems a shame to just chuck it out, into a skip
All that industry meant this was a strong Labour area; but now that has declined, along with the mills & factories
So too have the Socialist tea rooms; at one time there were several, to provide a cheap way for workers and their families to get out into the countryside, but they too have declined, leaving just Clarion House https://www.clarionhouse.org.uk/
Good morning all.
It was drizzly here, but it wasn’t enough to do much good, and it is all dry again already.
I have some Roses to plant if I can get myself in the mood to go out there, but I will be alright once I get started.
My poorly Gertie is on the mend now, after finally getting the correct antibiotic she needed.
It does me good too, to see her ‘smiling’ and tail wagging again.
Certainly is. Thanks Mags.
She must have the antibios for about 10 days, so I am giving her pro-biotics, plus live yoghurt & honey to help the good tummy bacteria multiply and return.
I will have another lab test done when its all finished, just to make sure it’s all gone.
A late good morning everyone I have been busy in the wardrobes and have got rid of literally half my clothes making 3 black bags for the Hospice shop in the morning. I have decided I don’t need lots of choice, I don’t go far these days and am never likely to again .
I managed to get the washing dry between showers and hope to get it ironed later.
@Mups sorry to hear Gerti has been poorly Mups,
This heat doesn’t help lots of germs around.
After no meds they gave her were working, I took a sample in for lab testing and it came back saying she had Campylobactor! No wonder she looked so ill.
She’s only little to start with, but lost another 3lbs in 6 days.
Finally she’s got the right antibiotic and is getting better every day now, thank God.
