Good Morning Sunday, 29th March 2026

Good morning dearly beloved, it’s Sunday and while was on my walk I noticed a lot of the arrivals at the catholic church were carrying palm leaves so presumably this is Palm Sunday.

I do recall when I was a child and forced to attend church in the UK they gave us a tiny piece of a palm leaf (and I mean tiny, like an inch of stem with two fronds) whereas these people were carrying half the local shrubbery because the damn things grow wild here, the inside of the church probably looks like a rain forest.

Anyway, I went for my walk of course this morning, it was definitely still cold but not enough to need a jacket or jumper. Not a very interesting walk, one of mine where I walk the same route back - all of my other walks are circuits which I prefer so I don’t do this one very much. I turn back at my favourite roundabout

Having said that, after that horrendous cold snap, the days are definitely warming up to where they should be for this time of the year, mid 20s today according to the forecast, not a cloud in the sky at the moment.

Different servo, different price but still extremely expensive fuel.

This weekend is nearly over but it is a short week with an extra long weekend coming. Have a good Sunday.

Take care…

Morning all.

I had a lovely day out yesterday , had a afternoon tea at a Indian Restaurant , and went around a Market in the Town centre , also there was Morris Dancers, and a Reggae Singer ,
The rain and hail kept off while we were outside ,and although cold the sun shone .It was a really happy atmosphere…

Ive no plans for today , rain is expected to day but the temps are climbing up again the coming week ,

Have a good day

Good morning everyone, nice and sunny today but still very cold. Are you all making up for lost sleep?

You seem to have had a great day out @Eliza, the Indian tea sounds interesting.
Your fuel prices are still lower than ours @Bruce , if I calculated the exchange rate correctly, your petrol seems to be the equivalent of about 1,57 euros per litre? A month ago it was about this much over here, but now average petrol cost is 1,70/80 and diesel about 2 euros. I’m glad me and my son both have petrol run cars now.

I had a go at making the hot cross cinnamon buns, recipe posted by @Chilliboot on the Maccas thread a while ago. They are not perfect, they don’t look like the picture in the recipe, you can’t see the cross as it’s hidden by the frosting and they are very wonky :laughing:I was worried they wouldn’t cook well because they didn’t seem to have risen as much as they should have, but in the end turned out quite good, thoroughly cooked and very tasty.
I’ll post a picture, even if they look quite odd, not very presentable but I’m passed being embarrassed, this comes with age doesn’t it? I don’t mind showing the funny consequences of my challenge, I’m not usually very good when it comes to working with leavened doughs!

I’ll have one for breakfast perhaps.

Have a good Palm Sunday everyone.

They look delicious Rose, they are not wonky, rather they have character :yum: Much more appealing than the bland supermarket variety!

No I haven’t forgotten to put my clocks on, I’m just late as usual…
A nice sunrise at 6:46 am. so it was on with me shorts and out of the door pronto…
:man_walking:
What a shock that was, it said 7 degrees C on the outside thermometer, but with the wind chill factor it felt like sub zero…
Anyway I made it around my 5 miler with plenty of jogging (as much as my lungs and heart would allow) and didn’t even had to clean my shoes after doing the lane…Dry as a bone!
Not many folk out this morning but the few I saw came out with the same thing “I bet your legs are cold in those shorts” Wait until they see how short my summer ones are…
:astonished:
Dinners in T’hoven, (that’s lunch in Yorkshire) and a nice bottle of cider in the cooler, so I’ll just have a peruse around youtube for some decent music to eat by…

That made me chuckle about the rain forest Bruce, didn’t fancy nipping into the church and joining in with “In God thou art” then?
Don’t they post the cost for a quick charge Bruce…
:zap:

Those hot cross buns look scrumptious Rose, just ideal with some custard on after my dinner…
:yum:

Thanks Foxy, good idea, custard! Can you send me some Birds Eye, I don’t fancy making it from scratch?

I like the way you try all the different beers, one of my kids and son in law are the same, when I go out with them they buy me all sorts of exotic brews, they are usually OK (sometimes too sweet or fruit juicy) but I always end up going back to my standard New.

Some time back I tried a Guinness for the first time it was drinkable but I don’t feel the need to try it again.

Not very adventurous eh?

I’m fortunate to have a really nice old historic haunted CAMRA pub close by.
It has bags of character, lovely staff , good food and live music.
But yes, it’s a pleasure trying out different and unusual bevvies. Less is usually more, some of them are very pokey!
