Good morning to you all on a very warm Sunday morning.
Took the dogs for their last walk today. That sounds too ominous, I meant for my last walk with them, they are both leaving today, the black one in an hour or so, the small one in the early evening. It will be a quiet house tomorrow.
They got swooped by a Noisy Miner bird on our walk today. Nothing like the ferocious attack of a Magpie, this was more of a low fly by. The bird wasn’t worried about me, just the dogs - they totally ignored it.
I am waiting for my middle son and his family to arrive after attending a birthday party on the Central Coast, I think they will probably only stay for a short while before heading back to Canberra with the dog and kids. I gave to eldest granson my old camcorder, I will be interested to hear how he got on with it.
Once the dogs are gone I will be out there tomorrow with the cheap Chinese Roundup in gardener mode.
Good , very cold morning to everyone.
Was up at 6am and for the first time this season, temperatures in single figures, 3C .
Looks like the sun is coming out so hopefully they’ll rise but probably won’t get more than 10/11C.
Well one thing’s for sure, I prefer freezing temperatures to warm, destructive, gale-force winds and torrential rain, like those we had earlier in the week.
I read about the UK going through very bad stormy weather mixed with snow? I hope yours is all over too now.
Winds gusting at around fifty mph at the moment! The plan was to pop into town, do a little shopping and go to the pub. Change of heart given the weather, plenty of housework to do at home and I’d like to get everything in good order for decorating next Sunday We’ll save the meal in the pub for then by way of celebration
Good morning - Very windy in the south of England overnight and still quite strong this morning. No damage anyway. Heavy rain is forecast for later.
Nothing planned other than a bit of indoor exercise followed by much watching of TV
Have a good day.
Edit: @surfermom The haircut went well in as much as I still have some. Mrs mart still does it but finding it more difficult these days. It might be a plain razor cut next time. She was a hairdresser extraordinaire in her day.
Good Morning From Foxy’s Monsoon…Or should I say…Berts monsoon!..Where do they get these names from? Back in the fifties it would just had been classed as heavy rain.
I had every intention of hitting the ground running, but after pulling up the shorts and lacing up the running shoes I couldn’t see the house across the road for the sheets of rain thundering down…
I was surprised after my early visit to the outside thermometer when it read a heady 15 degrees C, but despite the - high for this time of year temperature - there was no way I was going out in that torrent of rain at almost biblical proportions. I didn’t want to be out when the Locust came…
So a leisurely shower and breakfast and the sun is making a show, so I’m off now…
Morning all – late start this morning as hearing the howling wind outside I decided to stay in bed! Didn’t get up until almost 9.00 – can’t remember the last time I was that late getting up.
Still very windy and raining – with it forecast to last the rest of the day. Where is Noah when you need him? Looking on the bright side at least it isn’t as cold as it has been!
Strong winds always make me nervous - possibly from when I lived in the cottage, it was very exposed and I was always convinced one of the 4 chimneys would fall!
Neighbours texted last night – airline still looking for their suitcase, think it was possibly left on the ship!!
Did very little yesterday, the paperwork still sitting on the desk waiting to be sorted! Not sure if I will get round to it today – feeling very lazy. I think once the bed is made and the kitchen cleaned I will settle down with a book or may even turn on the TV !!
Well, the weather has warmed up - 15C at the moment. Later we are going to lunch with the whole family - some from London, the crowd from |Nottingham, and those from Cumbria. A round dozen…
I didn’t know that about Mrs. Mart. I am sure she thoroughly enjoyed her career; the work yields such satisfying results and I imagine she knew more about the happenings around your town than the local news services! .
@Bruce, it was generous of you to take in those dogs and I hope they have long happy lives ahead. Have you thought of getting a dog or would that be unmanageable with all the traveling you do?
@OGF, I am sure round two was more successful than round one on your exercise plans this morning. I am waiting until it warms up, so I don’t have to run in tights. It’s not the compression I don’t like, but the reduced evaporation. Perspiring in the cold is …using proper king’s English… icky!
Thanksgiving week is coming up this week, so the aim of the day is deep cleaning and sprucing up the guest rooms. We might get the boat out for a spin, but my “grownup” brain is screaming "work before pleasure, " so we will see. Somewhere along the line, all the years of my mom and dad fussing at us to clean up our rooms finally kicked in .
If guilt doesn’t get the better of me, we’ll head @Sheila’s direction for a rescue…
So we had lunch with the family - the whole bunch. We had a little surprise. Before we left my daughter came here with her dog. As ii happens their dog and ours do spiffingly well.
And we left them having fun while had our family lunch.
I did have dogs most of my life but when my last, a Border Collie, died at 16 I decided that was enough
For a brief moment I thought of fostering puppies that are destined to be guide dogs but decided against it. I really am too old for looking after a new dog and they would interfere with travel plans, They are like grandchildren, great to have for a while but nice to hand back to their parents.
I completely understand, Bruce. I think you are performing a fine service and hope you have another opportunity to foster again; it’s a very noble endeavor.
