Good Morning Sunday, 22nd September 2024

Good morning all, I have just arrived home in Wonderful Wollongong. Left Cowra 7.30am and arrived home just after 11am

Just in time it appears, it has not rained for over a week and my potted plants were looking very frail.

Easy Sunday drive really, even the Hume Highway was easy with no heavy traffic.

Have a lovely Sunday, I shall be unloading the car and camper and setting the washing machine for early tomorrow morning. Now I have to run over to the supermarket for milk!

Hope the rest of your weekend is good, take care

Morning all – heavy rain overnight and forecast for most of today

Welcome home Bruce – glad you enjoyed your trip

No gifts left by the beast this morning, although she took one look at the heavy rain and decided to stay indoors (surprise surprise!) so I expect to be doing some cleaning up later.

My walk around the park yesterday didn’t happen – had left my water wings at home!

While in the supermarket there was an elderly gentleman in front of me at the checkout – he was obviously very lonely and was holding a conversation with the checkout operator. He also spoke to me, showed me a picture of his wife, who had recently died – he said he was 90 and they had been together for 64 years. People behind me were getting very impatient but I just felt sorry for him. That visit was probably the only social contact he had that day

Not much planned for today – I could do the little bit of ironing which is calling to me from the utility room but I will do my best to ignore it and concentrate on finishing reading my book!

Take care – have a great day (try to stay dry!)

Good morning - Overnight rain with more to come …right into tomorrow according to the forecast. Haircut day today. I’d better not hang about because is looks like Mrs mart has got the comb and scissors out already,
I think she will want me to do hers afterwards.

It’s a Grandson’s Birthday today. He is 25. We can’t go to him (wheelchair difficulties) so as usual with family occasions, we will cater for it here. Nothing much needed though. A carrot cake and a few other things.

The hairdresser is calling. Have a good day.

Glad to hear that you have arrived home safe Bruce… :+1:
Sorry to hear about all the rain Mart and Sheila…
:umbrella:
I can’t remember when we had some decent rain here in South Yorkshire. It’s been so dry that all the fields that still have crops in are being watered by these massive sprays that get wheeled around from field to field.
I thought it looked like rain this morning when I left for my 5 mile walk/run out in the country, it was so dark and overcast, but it felt strangely warm. A glance at the thermometer outside and it was 15 degrees C, quite warm but exactly half the temperature that Surfermom is experiencing over in Florida. And she calls that cool!.. :astonished:
It was so warm while out trying to run that my hat came off at 2 miles, raincoat unzipped at three miles…and I’m not telling you what came off at four miles out on the lonely lane…
Anyway it turned out to be a very fast time when I arrived home, the only downside is that I passed Mrs Fox out walking with her friend…“No I wasn’t running love, just jogging the last bit downhill to our house”… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:…Whoops!
PS:-
Equinox today, all down hill from here folks…As the nights begin to get longer than the days. Might as well put away all the solar powered stuff…

Description

A solar equinox is a moment in time when the Sun crosses the Earth’s equator, which is to say, appears directly above the equator, rather than north or south of the equator. On the day of the equinox, the Sun appears to rise “due east” and set “due west”. This occurs twice each year, around 20 March and 23 September. Wikipedia

Blimey Bruce!
Get those green fingers of your’s around a bottle of Baby Bio and administer some first aid to those poor house plants, treat yourself to a generous swig while you’re at it!

I’m seriously chilling out with a glass of Merlot anticipating lunch, it’s what Sunday’s are for :v:

Enjoy your Sunday forum folks!

Good morning from autumnal Florida!

@Sheila, I keep thinking about that older gentleman you met in the checkout line, and think you and the clerk may have given him a highlight of his day. I tend to think that kindnesses multiply and hope that all three of you are touched by that in some way.

@Bruce, it’s always fun to go and good to get back. I am sure you plants were thrilled to see you and that by now, you have everything tucked away. Something tells me you will be looking at the maps again in short order. Thanks again for sharing your photos.

@mart, happy birthday to your grandson! I am sure he will be thrilled to celebrate with family and that carrot cake. He’s getting the gifts, but you and your wife have the most special one.

Yes, indeed @OGF, you we are all thrilled that our highs have cooled to 30-31. The best thing about it is that I don’t have to be so mindful of the time when it’s time to head outdoors. Just before twlight, my daughter and I did some paddeboarding with the water so warm (30) and the gulf so calm. All was well until the twelve-foot board slipped back onto my head and shoulder while I was trying to mount the thing on the van. It was a minor calamity (only a small chip on the nose), but there was a solid whack to my pride as the thing bounced off of me and pivoted onto the ground with a crash, drawing unwanted attention my way while my daughter laughed uproariously. Apparently I was not exactly the picture of - grace :woman_facepalming:.

The run is four miles behind me (you are going to get into BIG trouble, OGF if you get caught ); I am heading downstairs to start dealing with the garage (it is ventilated with giant breakaway louvered panels, so therefore open to the elements) getting everything up and out of the way of the ghost storm that may or may not congeal. Unfortunately, everyone else has plans, so this garage party is all my own. At least I’ll have the dogs and a good playlist (thinking Donald Fagan and Neil Finn for starters) to keep me company.

And with that, I hope the books are good, the parties enjoyable, the snacks delicious (looks tasty, @Chilliboot, the wine smooth, and the laundry sorting itself .

Have a nice Sunday!

It’s a bit like those scary rides at the fun fair, when you are on them you can’t wait to get off but when you get off you immediately want to get back on again.
