I am in Cloncurry a small mining town in Queensland’s central west. The night time temperatures are definitely cooler got down to 11° last night, daytime is fine in the mid 20s
There is a massive windmill in this town, I took a pic earlier but with my camera so it is not yet on my computer, might post it later. I aso drove down to Chinaman’s Creek Dam, every town seems to have Chinaman’s Creek, I suppose dates back to the days before the White Australia policy when a majority of gold miners were from China.
Chinaman’s Creeks seem to be as common as One Mile and Two Mile Creeks in QLD.
Have been battling a southerly wind all day which has cruelled my fuel economy.
Morning all – yes another sunny day (I could get used to this)
Visit to the hairdresser yesterday was not good. The cut was fine but she did very little to style it and by the time I got to the car my hair was flat and looked terrible. I also wasn’t happy with the colour she was trying to persuade me to have – think I will need to go back to my previous hairdresser
I had planned to go shopping after but instead I drove home hoping I wouldn’t see anyone I know, of course I pulled onto my drive and 3 of my neighbours were in their front gardens!! One of them was complaining about an event taking place in a nearby park – we could hear the music even though it is a 10 minute walk away (well 10 minutes for me!) He wanted us to join in with a complaint he was planning to make and even mentioned starting a petition to get the events banned! The music did stop around 11.00pm on Friday night (and last night). I pointed out this only happens 2 or 3 times a year so really it isn’t too much to complain about. Fortunately the other 2 neighbours agreed with me
As today is Sunday treated myself to a full English breakfast! Later I need to do some ironing, although sitting in the garden reading a book is a bit more inviting!
Another sunny day. The hosepipe ban is coming I expect. It’s the day for the family visiting and that usually means a noisy afternoon. Enjoying the peace and solitude this morning.
I’ve just been doing some laundry and washing up on this mellow Sunday. Next thing on the list is to pack up a little box of various doggy treats and take them over the road to the post office within the convenience shop.
I have a friend who lives right out in the sticks in rural North Wales. She has two lovely Bernese Mountain dogs and one of them has a birthday this coming week
Just come back from my daily walk and trying to decide what to do today. Maybe go for a walk somewhere or do something else on this nice day. At the moment, I’m waiting to go out to my local coffee shop and a spot of breakfast and decide what to do later. Tempted to go for a walk along a boating marina and maybe take a pic or two.
The Chicken and ham pie was very tasty yesterday and was accompanied by plenty of locally sourced vegetables…After a brief look round the garden centre I drove into Bridlington and did a slow pass of the sea front. A bit cold and blustery and packed to the rafters with holidaymakers. I think there might have been something happening because every square metre of space had a vehicle parked on it, some were even parked on double yellow’s…
As I left the town centre and proceeded through the South side we left the crowds behind and I was able to park up and get a couple of shots for you lovely people on the forum. Being on the forum over the years has made these excursions more interesting, while providing pictures and descriptions.
Everything has gone to plan so far on this Sunday morning, with a brisk walk around my long 5 mile route…I even figured out out to post a fancy good morning like Mart…
Hiya LF, good to see you back, no issues with the weather here in England. Why do you ask, is there something going on with the weather in your neck of the woods?
Hi C, tornado news and most recent Kentucky, West Virginia, with fatalities. I have not decided yet if its more an increased awareness on my part or potential global warming. It will be hurricane season soon for states around the once Gulf of Mexico. This is annual and expected, increase hurricane frequencies some months.
Take away would be me trying to appreciate the day more.
Grief!
I didn’t realise, we are blessed with our moderate weather conditions and temperate climate.
We still whinge about the weather a lot, its a national pastime here
Love those pictures LF. Now John Valadez is an artist I could grow to love…
I love paintings with plenty going on and lots of colour.
This one is a print from a painting by Joe Scarborough, a local artist.
I believe there were only 200 prints taken from the painting. I actually won this one after running the Sheffield Marathon. The picture depicts runners on the marathon navigating the streets of Sheffield as it used to be. I remember most of those places as a boy…
I didn’t expect to be running a marathon around them 50 years later…
