Good Morning - Sunday 14th November

Good Morning everyone,

Have a blessed ‘Remembrance Sunday’

For the Fallen
By Laurence Binyon

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Good morning from ‘out in the rural sticks’ to you Silver Tabby and to all who may follow. :039:

It’s still dark out but according to the forecast it will be cloudy and overcast this morning, brighter spells this afternoon. Maximum temperature 13ºC.

More never-ending tasks, they have to be done though or they just add up making everything seem even worse!

Enjoy your day everybody, whatever you may be doing.

Hi

Good Morning All.

A cold, dull, dry and windless day here.

A quick trip to the Sunday Market and then doinf Molecular Biology with a young lady who is finding it difficult at school.

She will repay me by sorting my electronics out and giving me notes on what to do.

Have a good day all.

Morning all.

Some rain earlier, but hope it has now gone over.

I will take out from the freezer one of my two stuffed Turkey breast joints, and cook it, for some nice roast dinners. Will portion and freeze the cooked meat later. I liked the Tesco one, but had bought Aldi’s first, before seeing Tesco had restocked it, so obviously theirs is seasonal.

What an exciting Sunday, eh? :grin:

Cold, sunny and windy today but I got all my laundry done (there was a lot because of the recent rain).

My visitors left today, had a wonderful weekend and a terrific meal on Saturday night at the club. My son left for for Sydney and will sleep tonight on his ship which leaves tomorrow for shakedown trials, while my DIL and grandkids returned to Canberra.

Good weekend, enjoy your day

Good morning all, nothing planned other than the remembrance.

The Soldier

BY RUPERT BROOKE

If I should die, think only this of me:

That there’s some corner of a foreign field

That is for ever England. There shall be

In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;

A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,

Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;

A body of England’s, breathing English air,

Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.

And think, this heart, all evil shed away,

A pulse in the eternal mind, no less

Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;

Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;

And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,

In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

Good morning everyone :smiley: a lovely sunny autumn day, just perfect for my grand children attending the Remembrance Day service at school.

I had to get up with Chloe at 3am, I wasn’t sure what was wrong but there was lots of displacement active going on …huffing and puffing/pacing and scratching her bed and she finally came and lay by mine. Not sure what was wrong I ‘did everything’ so changed the dressing on her foot/gave her clean water/some biscuits/a little walk then she went back to bed and snored while I lay awake. I got up and made a cup of tea and finally went to sleet at 4:30.

Lots of little jobs to do this morning starting with cleaning the oven then a lunch of chickpea curry with different winter salads.

Enjoy your day :slightly_smiling_face:.

Good morning everyone. I’m in slow mode today as I remember my grandfather and father, both of whom went to war on behalf of their King and country during both wars.
I appreciate what they did for me especially, although I remember them every time I learn about conflict wherever it may be :worried:

Not you, Tabby its the photo @AliceWonderland posted. The wording is misspelled on “relaxing”. I must admit though, I did stare long and hard at the title wondering what Jazzi saw :joy:
