Good Morning Sunday 12th May 2024

It is another lovely day but with a bit of high cloud and another large truck to avoid.

Have just checked in to Karalundi Caravan Park, it’s an aboriginal settlement and the park is part of the school where the locals learn job skills. They even have a cafe, later I will go and see if they have learned their barista skills.

Anyway that’s my day, what are you up to?

Good morning Bruce, sunny day here, mornings are cold but should get warmer this afternoon.
I have my parents over for lunch today, for Mother’s Day. Dad’s 90 and mum’s 86.

Happy travels.

it is going to be a hot one today so did my walk early. As for those supposed northern lights last night, well it didn’t happen, at least not where I live, not even a flickering street light.

Morning all – lovely bright start to the day, although thunder, lightning, even the possibility of hail and strong winds forecast for later this afternoon!

I made the most of yesterday afternoon – sitting in the garden reading. I was even tempted to open a bottle of wine but resisted – that didn’t happen until around 8.30 pm! :champagne:

Had my covid jab yesterday (have a sore arm today). It was all very well organised and it was all over in 15 mins from the time I arrived to the time I left! Walking back to my car I had to go down a steep slope, there was an “elderly” lady with one of those walker things with wheels. I stopped and asked if she needed help and if she would like me to walk down the slope with her (I had visions of the walker getting away from her). She declined, laughed and said the walker had brakes, we then had a lovely little chat. I do love striking up conversations with strangers – makes my day!

Local radio yesterday gave air time to someone who claims to be able to predict the future by throwing bits of asparagus in the air and “reading” how they land! :icon_confused: She stated that the UK song would not win Eurovision (well duh, the song wasn’t bad but from what I saw, the performance left a lot to be desired – and UK rarely win). She also said a country from what we used to call the Eastern Bloc would win – well she got that wrong!

As cat servant duties are over I was able to get up later, take my time in the shower and have a long leisurely breakfast (as it is Sunday a full English!) :bacon: Strange thing is, I feel as if I am missing something! :black_cat:

My new cabinet is being delivered tomorrow afternoon – looking forward to that. I am also thinking of having a small summer house built in the garden. If the cabinet is as well made, as I think it will be, I may have a chat to the carpenter about that. I am hoping he will also know a local tradesman who can renovate the ancient metal garden table and chairs.

Plans for today are to visit the cemetery, church and then back home hopefully in time to grab some sunshine before the bad weather sets in.

Take care - have a lovely day

Good morning all!
Yet another beautiful sunny day in West Sussex :sun_with_face:
I was up with the lark as usual but I enjoy the peace of the early mornings. I’ve developed the bad habit of dunking Ginger Nuts with a slice of Cheddar into my morning coffee, well I like it

I checked the northern sky three times during the night but saw nothing. I’m sure being so close to Gatwick airport and all the associated light pollution didn’t help.

Have a lovely day people :sun_with_face::+1:

Good morning
It was an early start for me this morning with church commitments but it was so very blessed.

I’m on my patio enjoying some Indian sweets, sunshine and peace. Thereafter, it’s time for my mother’s day lunch :sunglasses:

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day to those mums celebrating today!

Good morning Minx
Could I please ask what exactly those sweets are? There’s something about the green ones that look intriguing and delicious! :yum:

Dunking biscuits I can relate to but cheese!! How on earth did you come up with that one?

A friend of mine suggested it in jest, I simply couldn’t resist. It really isn’t as bad as it sounds

Hi :hot_pepper: :hiking_boot:

It’s called Burfee. The green one is made with pistachio nuts. The cream one has almonds.

It’s basically a no bake sweet made from blended milk powder, cream, butter, sugar, rose water and Cardomon, almonds and pistachio nuts.

Ah… thank you, I’ll have to have a Google. It’s certainly more refined than my Cheddar dunking! :+1:

Good Afternoon From Foxy’s World… :fog:
Quite a bit of mist this morning as I set off for my Sunday 5, don’t they advise you to get your five a day…
Bit of a stiff neck this morning as I spent an hour looking up at the sky last night hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aurora Borealis, no luck I’m afraid, and it made me an hour late for getting to bed. I still managed to produce a good effort walking and jogging around the highways and byways around the village. Never been a big fan of the Eurovision Song Contest but watched it every year with Mrs Fox. We used to score and my song never won… :009: But I was disgusted at some of the unacceptable and provocative routines by some of the entries (and I’m not easily disgusted) especially the UK one, and it got too much for me so I turned it off…
Dinner is cooking in the oven, and the mist has dissipated to reveal a warm sun, which is waiting for me to absorb some of the rays, so it’s out with the chair and off with the clothes, and stand by for an influx of vitamin D… :sunglasses:

Spare us the asparagus!

Good morning from the Gulf Coast! I am not sure what the food equivalent of a hangover is, but I was deserving of one after being treated to a three course fondue dining experience for Mother’s Day. With that in mind, I rolled (literally) out of bed this morning and laced up for a three-miler on a back beach that runs along a calm back bay. Plenty of pelicans were out and about, along with a willet or two, finding this side of the barrier island less hectic for locating the tiny coquinas they seem to prize.

Back at the house, there was an even larger collection of fliers warming up on the boat house. I was amazed by the pelicans napping at the edge of the roof, until I realized it is not unlike sleeping at the edge of the mattress thanks to the dogs :face_with_spiral_eyes:
