Good morning to you all on this almost spring like Sunday.
I made an early visit to Coles for milk. While I was there discovered they had eggs so bought a dozen, unfortunately they also had Rocky Road and I succumbed to temptation. As you can see I have already eaten about a third.
Decided my new AGM battery needed moving from the house to the garage. It was already on a trolley with casters so I wheeled it to the back door. There I had my other trolley waiting.
It was a bit of a struggle to get it from the step but eventually did it. Now it sits in the garage awaiting a kiddie to visit to help me get it into the back of the car (after removing the old one).
Good morning - I’ll be mowing the lawn this morning.
Time also to work on selling an unused power wheelchair. It will need photographing from all angles to sell it on Ebay. It needs 2 new batteries but the chair will be in good working order once it has them. It cost thousands when new and we need to get some money back on it if possible. Only stopped using it because Mrs mart’s requirements change over the years.
The current one is giving trouble. We have spent money on it but still can’t rely on it. A new power wheelchair being needed is looking increasingly likely.
Have a good day.
Edit: Done the lawn and hung the washing out to dry. It’s hot out there but not as hot as it is going to get.
Morning all – a bit cloudy this morning but the UK weather is playing its usual games as the forecast is for it to reach 28c today!
Late start for me today – 10.00 and I have only just finished breakfast!
Never tried “Rocky Road” Bruce, not sure if is available in UK – I think I will have to try it next time I visit the colonies
Brother-in-law and his wife dropped in yesterday evening – unexpected but I am always happy to see them. They even brought their own drinks! Not sure if that was out of politeness or whether it was a comment on my taste in wine!
I am very lucky with my in-laws, having no family of my own close by, they have always ensured that I am included in family gatherings. My husband came from a large family so I suppose they think there are enough of them to spread around the task of having to look out for this strange woman!
Sunday is a day of rest (some would say all my days are!) so plan to do very little. I do need to return my neighbour’s cake containers (hate for her to run out and not be able to “force” me to have more cupcakes!)
I’ve just returned from my dog walk. We went on a shorter route today because it is quite warm out, that kind of warmth which saps our strength; I did quite a bit of walking yesterday - my still aching legs are testimony to that!
Yesterday I went to Birmingham with my younger son to an art exhibition; it was the second year anniversary of my husband’s death so I was pleased to go somewhere to help take my mind off it. I really enjoyed the exhibition called Victorian Radicals and covering the Pre-Raphaelites. It was also good to be with my son who made me laugh a lot. We then had our lunch in an Italian restaurant which was delicious - I do enjoy Italian cuisine.
I don’t have anything planned for today, I shall let it unfold and go where the mood takes me, that probably means reading my new book. That makes me sound quite lazy when I read that two of our contributors will be lawn mowing today - mind you I don’t have a lawn to mow so that’s my excuse!
Good Morning from Foxy’s World…
A bit chilly as I left for my Sunday five early on, but with plenty of jogging I was soon getting overheated. Should have left the wooly jumper at home…Hitched up the shorts as high as they would go and went for it on the last bit down the dusty lane.
With no rain to speak of for the last month, the fields are looking very brown and burn’t…
Good morning everyone, now I’m curious @Bruce, what is Rocky Road?
I’m happy to hear you enjoy Italian cuisine @MargaretF, if you need any recipes, please don’t hesitate to ask
This week I’ll be cooking our local Southern Italian specialities, as my daughter’s home on holiday, from up North. She’s nostalgic for our gastronomical delights
I wish we had a maximum of 28C @SheilaP, we’ll probably reach 40 again this afternoon
Me too Margaret - I am fortunate to have an Italian neighbour who occasionally brings in home made Italian treats (that is a different neighbour from the one who brings in the cupcakes - is it any wonder I am having trouble controlling my waistline!)
Wow, looks and sounds really scrumptious! I’ve never been keen on marshmallows but this combination of ingredients must be delicious, I would definitely try it if we had something similar.
Fulfilled the day’s promise. Extricated from storage. It was covered in dirt and cobwebs. Now a clean machine. A pity it doesn’t actually work …but it will with a couple of new batteries.
Someone tell them that the day doesn’t have to start at 5 a.m.
@mart someone will love getting their hands on that cart. It looks like it is in good shape. They are indeed expensive, so I wish you well with that. My dad needed one in his last days, and with a play on Harley-Davidson, he used to call it his “Hardly Ableson.” Might as well have a sense of humor about it, right!
Sounds. like a leisurely day, Sheila. I am glad you had a nice time with your in-laws.
I am so pleased you found an enjoyable way to spend the day, Margaret. Your son sounds very thoughtful . I know those anniversary days can be difficult.
It’s your cart that caught my eye, @Bruce. Every home should come with one.
Something tells me that the trip from up north is well worth the drive! Happy August to your daughter; I know it’s one big break for most of Italy.
Quick run here, and now I am back to reassembling the kitchen and family room. Anyone want some glassware? Mine has been breeding in the cupboards when I wasn’t looking.
Good afternoon all!
Too bloody hot at the moment, never happy!
I got slightly experimental this morning, for sometime I’ve been gagging to try cactus fruit, I really wouldn’t bother!
I must have picked up a cold since getting back poor head is spinnning and very hot. Got no energy even walking or getting off the settee is an effort. I even wore a baseball type hat while in Portugal.
It is remarkably good isn’t it? It wasn’t that expensive either, it has side walls and a large rectangular bag that fits inside presumably for garden waste. I have used it for just about anything but that, it is remarkably sturdy. It’s from Bunnings similar to this:
That “box” half way down the handle (in my pic not the above - mine has a better handle) disconnects so it can act as a trailer, I think for attachment to a ride on mower but if the day comes when I need an electric mobility scooter I hope it can attach to that.
Not that I’m aware of, I was motivated by curiosity rather than a healthy lifestyle, the cactus has a slightly greeny chlorophyll kind of taste and little else, nothing to write home about
