Good morning to you all, it has been a cool slightly over cast morning, nearly midday and it is only 16° heading for a max of 18°. Naturally I am wearing my Ooodie.
I noticed the spikey things in my front garden are flowering.
Did you notice it was photo bombed by a Rainbow Lorikeet? Checky Chappie.
I hope our American friends have recovered from their Independence Day celebrations.
Just waiting for my daughter and son in law to arrive, they brought the car trailer down so presumably they are buying yet another car. One doesn’t dare to ask.
While I wait I am listening to Spotify on my stereo via the TV, love it!
Have a great weekend, hope you are a bit warmer than me.
A very stressful day filling in forms yesterday, not helped by being charged £8.95 to send an A4 envelope 24 hour delivery.
Pleasantly surprised by a delivery of 4 corals from a new supplier.
Arrived in 24 hours, cheap postage, and one of them was huge and on a piece of live rock instead of a ceramic disc.
I am envious of those of you going fishing this weekend, something I can no longer do.
I used to do a lot of competitive fishing of all types.
I have not been for years, and I am starting to sell off my equipment, starting with my deepsea and shark fishing stuff, I am no longer strong enough to do it.
I am hoping to get one of my carers to take me for a couple of hours this summer at a small local pond.
Rain is around but it’s sunny at the moment. There’s lots of finishing work to be done on the new garden room but the main construction is finished. Still no windows for it though. They should have arrived as part of the delivery but didn’t. Not good.
I can now take down the temporary storage shed (a gazebo) and claim the other half of the garden back.
Our daughter is staying in the country for the next two weeks. She’s like a breath of fresh air. We both have the same kind of sense of humour and we spend much time giggling like kids. A pity she doesn’t live in UK but a person’s got to follow their dreams.
Had my caffeine fix, first things first
It’s an indoors kind of day today.
I bought a succulent in a small ornamental pot from the convenience shop the other day…
I’ve identified it as Crassula ovata Gollum. It’s actually a variety of jade plant and can grow to quite a decent size. I was quite taken by the unusual trumpet shaped leaves.
It needs potting on, just one pot size up. Not bad for three quid!
Talking of things green I’ve finally got round to sowing some basil seeds. I resent splashing out for overpriced propagators from the garden centers, all it takes is a little up cycling. A snipped down Pepsi bottle does the trick
Oh… sorry to ruin anyone’s breakfast but the maggots are doing just fine in the fridge. They’ve lost that stroppy attitude they had yesterday… chilled!
Hello everyone! Only getting the chance to be here on weekends at the moment with work being so hectic. Hope you all have lovely plans. I’m about to cycle into town, and I’m REALLY not a cyclist, so wish me luck!
Morning all – rain overnight and overcast this morning
As I am no longer on cat servant duty I didn’t get up until 8.30, have just finished a leisurely breakfast and am settled with a cup of coffee!
Usually when I go to the supermarket I am the one helping people reach things on high shelves or kneeling down and getting something from a low shelf. Yesterday I tried to reach something and couldn’t – had to ask a man standing nearby and he got it for me. So yes I am now officially old! In my defence the item was at the back of the top shelf!
Neighbours called in around 8.30 last night with a couple of bottles of wine. Their flight was not affected by the French air traffic controllers strike but once they landed the nightmare began. It took them 1 ½ hours to just get out of the airport and were then caught up in heavy traffic. They expected to be home by 5.00 instead they didn’t get home until 7.30! We finished a bottle of wine between us and had a lovely catch up!
Oh dear - have you upset the gods of the internet? To regain their favour you must genuflect before your chosen internet device and repeat “forgive me oh gods of social media” 4 times !
Good afternoon everyone, sorry to hear that @OldGreyFox, those maggots are really colorful @Chilliboot!
We finally had some rain the other day, a good old Summer storm, but also with hailstones, luckily not too big, it was all actually quite exciting to watch.
It hasn’t cooled down though, still sweltering temperatures, the countryside’s turning all yellow, everything so dry, well it is actually normal this time of year.
The locksmith’s just arrived to replace our back door locks, so that will be another job over and done with, still the roof TV aeriel system to be redone, that will be on Monday.
Been having a lite rain for the last 3 days and more to come. I enjoy this type of rain because it has time to soak in and very little run off.
Was it first time in many years that fireworks were not banded because of dry conditions. Even with the lite rain, there were a lot of fireworks visible.
With this unusual rain in July, it keeping the temperatures around 90 degrees f.
Everyone enjoy yourselves and be careful out there.
Bit too late for good mornings but good evening! Currently enjoying some picturesque views on a weekend away in the Lake District and on a balcony with a glass of red. Bliss!
Bamforth! Haven’t seen those in years! Used to have an upstairs neighbour about a decade ago who had a huge collection of those postcards. Hope it’s not too bawdy for here but I remember him once saying the best of those postcards would ‘give a bloke a happy grin and an even happier willy!’ Felt peculiar hearing those words coming from such a kind old chap but I think he’d have enjoyed this one too!
I am Carly although I’ve had a bit of a break from angling due to circumstances. A long story but being a single dad and bringing up my son I’ve had other things to occupy my mind. Chilli jnr has had a dabble or two with fishing but he became bored very quickly. I was rather taken aback the other day to find he’s become rather keen!
It’ll be good to get outdoors and do some of that sort of father and son stuff again!
