Good Morning Saturday, 3rd May 2025

Good morning to everyone.

What a difference a couple of hundred Kms make. I started out this morning is lovely sunny weather and was happy to see that the road I wanted to travel on was open

About 80km into a nearly 300km strip of road I noticed that grey clouds were forming up ahead, I started to worry that heavy rain would shut the road and I would be trapped however in the end while it rained heavily at times it wasn’t enough to close the road… I arrived safely in Hughenden in wet miserable weather. Just filled up with fuel but doubt I will explore.

This is not fun however I just looked at he forecast and it says no more rain for a week - as it should be.

BTW driving in Australia is not all sweetness and light, this is some of the road I was on today

Now this is also a road train route, guess who gives way?

Clue: it is not the 54 metre long road train.

Cars passing just put two wheels in the dirt but road trains stay on the bitumen.

I hope your weather is better than mine.

Take care

Hi

Good Morning All.

A much cooler day, the heat has gone and the heating is back on, typical as Monday is a Bank Holiday.

Bruce, life would be no fun without a few problems, but be proud of yourself, you have beaten both the weather and the Road Trains.

Help wise, another long 3 days, only Shiv for an hour a day until Tuesday afternoon.

The TV is boring, just endless talkshops about the Local Elections.

Have a good day all.

Good morning - Cooler today but hopefully, this will mean better sleep tonight. It’s time to get a few plants for the garden. The plant nurseryman over at the car boot sale often has some good ones, so I’ll be going there soon to have a look at and maybe buy some.

Much of the rest of the week-end will be taken up by family matters by the look of it. Makes me wonder how Mrs mart and me seemed to be able to handle life on our own.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Slightly overcast and cooler down in Hampshire today. May be doing a bit of shopping today, probably should cut the lawn before the weather changes, depends how I feel after my coffee. :coffee:

Have a great day all. :+1:

Morning all – another sunny day although definitely cooler than of late.

It is another Bank Holiday weekend – seems they are like buses, none for a long time and then two come along together!

Waiting for the call from my brother meant I missed the coffee get together at the church yesterday but my lovely neighbours rang later and invited me in for coffee and yes I left carrying some home made cake (again!). I am convinced it is their goal in life to stop me losing weight but I feel it would be rude to refuse (also it is delicious!)

Spoke to my brother, there is no change in Mum but he doesn’t think she will be with us for very much longer – although she is well known for being stubborn and may surprise us all.

Her decline and my brother’s recent stay in hospital has made me decide that I will go to visit once more (I had said my previous visit would be my last). I plan to go into town and visit the Flight Centre to get costs and other information. I know costs have gone up a great deal since my visit 2 years ago so I will have to break open more than one piggy bank!

Take care – have a lovely day

Good morning everyone… :039:
Really enjoying your pictures and descriptions of your adventures Bruce. You live in a wonderful country where travel options are endless, and so is the beautiful weather (most of the time)
Following my win on the premium bonds this month it was either going to be Spain or Greece, or on a small win it would be Hornsea…Looks like Hornsea wins!.
Actually there is a very good garden centre just outside of Hornsea and that will be where we enjoy Saturday lunch this week.

What Swim?
Snooker and F1…?

Just returned from Hornsea and thought I’d share these photos before all the family arrive for tea…

Looking in the other direction towards Spurn Head and the spire of Mappleton Church in the distance. When the tide is favourable there is a very nice walk along the beach to that church and the little tea shop close by for tea and cake. The walk then carries on inland and meets the Trans Pennine trail that takes you back to Hornsea. A nice little ten miler but beware the incoming tide…Or you might be on the beach longer than you expected…

People thought I was mad searching for a Hawthorn tree to grow against the garden gate. They grow wild around here and not very garden like they said…But I was searching for a special one and look how it’s turning out…
