Good Morning Saturday 31st August 2024

Good morning to all you happy people enjoying your weekend.

It is the last day of winter, warm, sunny but windy however not as windy as before. Could do with a decent fall of rain here the ground is getting very dry. I finally got round to dead heading my hydrangeas this morning, the new buds are already sprouting. Slack, I know.

My weekend is going to be spent tidying up I think, not many plans for the next two days.

I forgot it is Father’s Day this Sunday until I received a card in the mail yesterday. Two of my kids are flying off to foreign parts tomorrow for a couple of week’s holiday with their cousin so I seemed to spend a lot of this morning fielding calls from them before they go. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy talking to them.

My own planned trip seems to recede further into the future as appointments seem to pile up. It will happen eventually but when is a moot point at the moment.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend - take care.

An early Happy Father’s Day to you Bruce!

On the topic of trips, I think it’s a great idea to have one planned. I was looking at closer destinations right before I hopped on. What destination was next? I have a fascination on National Parks. Waiting patiently for fall weather.

Here’s to a good long Labor day weekend!

Good morning - A grey one here with an outside temperature of 16ºC at 9.30 a.m. It looks as if it could rain although none is forecast.

Mrs mart had her fill of the craft show yesterday, so I don’t have to drive her to and from it today. She bought enough material and other crafty bits and pieces to make a lot of clothes, Christmas cards etc.

Expecting a video call from our grand daughter soon. She is in Sydney at present. A far flung family. Some live here. One lives in Germany and another in Spain

Good morning from non-laboring Florida, as we are off to a sunny start to the Labor Day weekend.

@Mart, you should show us some of Mrs. Mart’s handiwork. She sounds very skilled and talented. I am sure you will enjoy your video chat; I admire families that have the confidence and abilities to branch out into the family. I am sure you must be proud of all.

I hope you can keep that Queensland trip on the calendar, @Bruce. Have you checked into remote treatments and doctor’s visits that would enable you to travel? We have a lot of folks who travel here who manage to continue their treatment (chemo, radiation, physical therapy, medications etc.). It might be worth investigating.

This morning’s run was one of my favorites this time of year. The trail I chose has a thick marine forest where there is enough respiration that the trees and foliage pump out natural air conditioning, despite there being no wind. About halfway in, I encountered a young family on bicycles who were having a grand time until one of the younger kids inexplicably steered off the trail and into a bush. He howled, but was fine. I loved the dad who swooping into rescue mode called out, “I told you, you have to be careful about bushes that eat kids in this part of the country.”

Hopefully, the current rain showers will pass by so I can kayak with my daughter, but in the meantime, a few mundane errands are whining that I have been neglecting them.

Have a nice day and beware of the plants!

No, not really possible where I travel, There is a Royal Flying Doctor Service for a reason - medical facilities in the bush are few and far between. Towns of 150 people (or less) don’t usually stretch to a nurse never mind a doctor.

Actually now that spring is here my direction of travel could change. There comes a time in Spring when temperatures flip and the inland becomes warmer than the coast.

I will go away for my mini break, the destination might just change.

Visiting/travelling/backpacking or does she live there?

My two sons live in Sydney though one actually lives in Canberra at weekends but works in Sydney during the week.

Yes National Parks are good, as a pensioner I have a free pass to all in NSW, I sometimes forget when I am interstate and just park without paying (not that there is anyone who checks) they all are spectacular.
