Good Morning Saturday, 30th November 2024

Good morning on this last day of November and first day of the weekend.

I was awake at stupid o’clock checking on the toilet facilities, as gentlemen of my age are wont to do, when I realised I was paddling in water. Overnight we had received nearly 80mm of rain and obviously some was getting into my house.

I ventured out into the garden in the semi-dark and realised my gutter was blocked - stupid 1980s design to look like a facia but when it overflows it goes into the roof rather than down the wall. Out comes my ladder and the problem cured in a few minutes but really annoying. After soaking up surplus on the carpet with newspaper am drying it with my fan heater, fortunately only affected the short bit of corridor. It’s a bit warm indoors at the moment 23° outside over 25° indoors

Not a great start to the weekend but it could have been worse. I had some chocolate which made me feel much better.

Enjoy your weekend. Take care.

Morning all – damp start to the day but not too cold

Glad there wasn’t much damage Bruce and that you were able to fix it easily - hope the clean up doesn’t take long

Did very little yesterday, binge watched some DVDs and ate a lot of junk food! :chocolate_bar:

Unfortunately my DVD player decided it had been overworked and wouldn’t function properly. You can tell how old it is as it has a scart connection! Fortunately I did have a spare but I think I will be shopping for a new one with an HDMI connection. As I am a complete technophobe it will be fun setting it up, although I have been told it is easy (I may have to send an SOS to my neighbour!)

Today I will be catching up on the ironing and housework which I neglected yesterday

Take care – have a great day

That looks like a right pain in the rectum Bruce, I hope the clean up goes well.
Twas nice n’ warm 10 degrees C as I made my way to do the Saturday shop at Tesco, I even went in my shorts and was pleased to see a few other old blokes wearing theirs.
I was careful to avoid all the ‘Arla’ stuff after reports of Bill Gates meddling with the food again…If we had a local farm that sold milk I would kick Tesco into the long grass…
:cow:
A rest day today, and Mrs Fox is helping out at the local Christmas Fayre, so I’ll nip her up in the car later and then return home to put some lights up outside and try and make it look a bit more festive.
Ladders don’t seem to hold the attraction that they used to, a bit like my legs…Any excuse to get em out…
:sunglasses:

Good afternoon - Just finished giving the house a thorough dust and vacuum. It hadn’t been done for a while. Superficial yes, thorough not so much. The rooms smell lovely now. Might do a bit in the garden this afternoon if I recover enough

Some of the family usually visit at week-ends. One has said he will clean the windows outside for us.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from the deceptive skies of Florida!

Oh, @ Bruce, house floods are one of the few things that give me anxiety; I’ve too much experience in that department. It looks like you fortunately caught it before it started wicking into the walls. Thank heavens for midnight trips to the restroom, or you might have encountered an even bigger mess. More than that, you have shown why taking delivery of the physical newspaper is still has its merits. :newspaper_roll: :ocean:

@Eliza, how exciting for your son! I hope he has a nice trip; that is a beautiful part of the world.

@SheilaP, DVD players are one of the best bargains around; when streaming prices started soaring, I started collecting old DVDs, tossing the cases and filing them in zip-up albums that hold about 50-75. It’s my go-to when most everything I want to watch has an extra rental fee on top of the monthly subscription cost.

@QuintESensual , I am sure that card gave you a good chuckle. I can tell you have a great relationship with those boys :blue_heart: :blue_heart:.

@Well done on the vacuuming, Mart. The men in my family seem to have some sort of allergy to the upright. I think shots might be in order?

@realspeed, fantastic shot of that owl! Their wingspan always take my breath away, and you caught that length perfectly.

I’ve seen your backyard, @OGF. Perhaps it’s time for a cow! It would give you and Mrs. OGF a mutually enjoyable project. If Clarkson can do it, it can’t be that hard . :milk_glass: :cheese: :cow2:

It’s bright blue out there, but the winds have c o l d, a perfect day to skip a run. I’m soon off to the dog park because the pups are wildly frisky from the chill and need to burn off some energy. It’s by far and away the most social place I have ever been for dogs - and people! My Thanksgiving company are here for one more day, so it’s time to don the tap shoes to keep them entertained for a few hours.

Have a lovely day!

You’re quite right. My seniors’ club gets 50 free copies of The Seniors newspaper each month about half are taken by members I always take several for the paper value alone (as do others). This incident has depleted my stock considerably. I shall pick up the leftovers of the latest edition on Monday.

I am hoping the carpet won’t smell too bad for too long as it dries - it seems to be largely dry already - it might hasten its replacement. :sob:

@realspeed really nice photo but surely you must also have something to report on a Saturday? This is the place for trivia.
