Good morning everyone on this last weekend of autumn (for me). It is sunny but feels remarkably cool after the rainy, relatively humid days earlier in the week. I think it is only going to get up to 20° today. Definitely cardigan weather.
Of course I went for my walk this morning in the sunshine, I noticed that the flying fox colony has moved on, I wonder where they went?
Once I was back home and showered I threw all my clothes into the washing machine to take advantage of the fine weekend, I guess with the cooler weather it will not be dry until this arvo but I am always pleased to get it done when the basket gets full. Probably do my bed clothes in the morning.
If the grass dries I might do a bit of mowing otherwise it can wait until tomorrow.
The temperature is far more acceptable this morning now that the heatwave has passed. It’s quite pleasant sitting in the front room listening to the birds singing with the window open over coffee.
I used to love mowing lawns Bruce, it was really quite therapeutic, that smell of freshly cut grass. Saturday morning is usually mohawk maintenance time. We have a terrific Turkish barbers just over the road, held in high regard by the locals. They excel in precision haircuts, I popped over the road and got the sides of my head shorn yesterday, just on a whim really.
Just a day for doing stuff at home today, out tomorrow!
Chilli jnr had a nice new Samsung phone delivered yesterday, he’ll be spending time in his room tinkering and settling it up in his room no doubt… young people of today!
I did all the errands in town that I Posted a couple of days ago, but forgot that I should have paid a credit card bill
I hardly ever use it, but this was an annual subscription that I’d forgotten about
My bank is open on Saturday morning, so I’ll go and pay that very soon, then catch the bus to Colne -
They have opened a new market hall so I’ll go and have a look at that, and chat to the stall holder on the second hand tool stall, we’ve got to know each other on first name terms
Apparently the new market hall is a ‘modern interpretation’ and is more like a food hall, so I’ll see what that’s like
And I hear it also has a bar … Hmmmm …
Still waiting to hear from the plumber, although I have realised it is half term so he is probably on holiday with his family, hopefully I will hear from him next week. Fortunately I do have another bathroom I can use! I could ask my neighbour but I am reluctant to call on him – I don’t want to be the sort of neighbour who whenever he sees my phone number groans and asks “what does she want now!”.
So far today I have changed and washed the bedding – my plans for the rest of the day are to move the dust around and vacuum carpets – I think that is enough activity for one day!
Good morning everyone, lovely Summery day, beautiful bright blue sky,no humidity yet, meaning high temperatures are still tolerable. Pollen count still too high!
My son recently bought a new Samsung too, Chilli, he’s just paid the last monthly premium.
I really don’t understand youngsters today, I had asked him what was wrong with his other phone, still functioning perfectly. “Oh, this one’s more sophisticated, better for videos and photos, more high tech in general.” The actual phone function is totally ignored nowadays.
I feel for you Sheila, not nice waiting around for plumbers.
