Good morning all, you would never guess that Spring starts on Monday.
Yesterday turned out better than expected, it actually got up into the low 20s before the winds picked up in the evening. so the arvo was pleasant enough.
Today is not so jolly, in fact it is damn cold even though the sun is shining, it is still windy with this Antarctic blast feeding in from the south west - snow down to 700 metres, After getting a few jobs done in the garage I have retreated to my bedroom and the fan heater with my book.
Hello everyone, nice being back after a few weeks away from here. Hope you’ve all been keeping well! My day consists of psyching myself up for my local Park Run then brunch with friends in town. Lovely! Not the Park Run bit of course…
Damp and showery day down here in southern Hampshire. Not too much to say about today. Mrs G is with her chiropractor for her joints, after which we’re shopping with a fried breakfast and then drop into the coffee shop afterwards. Unless something exciting happens, that’s about it for the day. Wanted to cut my lawn but its far too wet for that.
Morning all – dull and overcast this morning with heavy rain and strong winds forecast for later.
Quiet day yesterday. Did some shopping and then went next door for coffee and cake (delicious but bad for my waistline!). Neighbours are taking the beast to the cattery later today – I can’t help feeling really guilty about it but they reassured me they have used the cattery before and they look after her very well except I know she will hate it!
Not getting on too well with my new glasses! The distance ones are fine but to use the reading glasses I have to hold the book or lap top quite close, my old ones are better so I will be going back to the opticians with them some time next week.
Afternoon All, plenty going on at the Fox’s today, after taking Rosie the cat for a very early visit to the vet for her second and final post op visit (where she received the all clear ) we rushed round the Tesco double quick, and then I dropped Mrs Fox off to manage her stall at the local Festival of Art. Then our daughter appeared as I put away the shopping (I haven’t got a clue where all this stuff goes ) She is also helping down at the church hall serving dinners and bacon sarnies. So she left her car here (good choice) and I drove her down and dropped her off.
There were so many cars parked at the side of the road you couldn’t slide a fag paper between them…
Managed to fit in some porridge at some point and just a shower outstanding…And no! not out standing on the lawn…What would the neighbours say…
I shall have to stop reading this thread, very bad for my health, all this talk of fried breakfasts, cheese scones and cakes, all of which are totally banned on my heart diet.
My readings are not overly good today, so having to be boringly sensible and do very little.
Have a lovely day one and all.
A rather strong wing here, a few twigs off and looking like rain.
It’s a holiday weekend in the US and next Friday is a holiday in the UAE. I guess I’ll do my Labor Day steak on Friday, as a holiday blend. It’s been a lazy day. I think I’m going to take a nap to rest up from the rigor of not doing anything all day.
I must admit I admired British parking, I have never seen so many cars so close together, I visited a friend in Exeter where there seems to be no off street parking and she guided her car into and out of spaces abut 150mm larger than her car.
I couldn’t do it, in NSW (and I suspect everywhere else) you are supposed to leave a minimum of one metre between vehicles when parked.
The other oddity I noticed in the UK was cars parked facing the wrong way, here you must park facing the same way as the traffic flow on that side of the road.
It is a small village though Bruce and the roads are not wide enough for double parking, so they dump them wherever they can. As I was driving home I noticed the large empty car parking area at the local school, just a stones throw from the church and hall. All the pupils are on holiday but I thought, anyone with a bit of gumption could run a sort of park and ride with a mini bus. In the length of time it took to find a parking spot at the church and navigate into it, the bus could have made at least two trips. Say a nominal fee to cover costs and there you go…
On the housing estate where I live, I get tired of the amount of people parking on the road with an empty drive… It’s like a slalom sometimes weaving in and out of parked vehicles.
It doesn’t seem to matter which way round they park, and some cars are so far away from the kerb they appear abandoned at first glance.
