Good morning to everyone on this slightly overcast Saturday. I have to make amends for my forgetfulness yesterday
The year seems to be flying past. I have to remember to buy a present for my third grand niece’s 1st birthday later in the month. Gawd this does make me feel old!
It was quite chilly this morning, I had to dig my cardigan out as it was only 16° but as I write I am back to T shirt - it is probably very low 20s after raining overnight - received 6mm which was very welcome.
Was out and about early to the Vietnamese bakery to stock up with wholemeal rolls, I usually buy a dozen and freeze them.
Thought about doing my laundry but the clouds make that a bit sus so will wait until the morning as tomorrow is supposed to be 31° (that’s Spring for you, freezing one morning, extra warm the next). Much better, it will dry in a couple of hours.
Have a wonderful weekend, especially the workers out there.
Good morning!
Cloudy but mild with the sun starting to break through; no wind
For the past few weeks while I’ve been gradually recovering from my illness & urine infection, on the good days I have been gradually cleaning & tidying my flat, even if it took about 3 days to do what I would normally do in a couple of hours
You might remember that I’ve had the amplifier from my 1980s vintage HiFi system repaired, and yesterday I put it back together & connected up all the spaghetti wiring
And I even did the washing up last night, instead of leaving it till this morning
Morning all – another dull and overcast day. Temperatures forecast to reach the dizzy heights of 12c today!
Good to see you back Bruce – don’t worry us like that again! Glad you are feeling better zuludog
I don’t know if the birds are becoming greedy or if it is just the weather is colder but they seem to be getting through the wild bird food a lot quicker these days. Had to buy more yesterday! They are currently lined up along the wall awaiting their turn!
Still not heard from the cleaner so have messaged a couple of others – hope they have some availability. My neighbour has volunteered to come in and do the floors for me, but no way am I letting that happen!
Only plan for today is some housework and possibly some laundry
That’s the weekend shop done and just relaxing with a mug of Yorkshire tea after breakfast.
Mrs Fox has taken herself off to a garage sale in the village, hope she’s back before 12, either she’ll turn into a pumpkin-
Or I’ll be late getting my lunch at a local garden centre. Well! it is Saturday and a rest day for me.
Number two granddaughter won’t be coming for tea, so it’ll just be our daughter and hubby when I’ll get to find out what’s happening on X (formerly twitter) and who played who in the football league…
I’m soaking some muddy little crab apples, they’ll be roast, puréed through a sieve and given a new lease of life in a generous glass of hot, mulled lambswool tonight, not forgetting the cinnamon, ginger, citrus zest and dark sugar too😋
Jack’s a bit past his prime but we’ll be lighting him up one more time on the table tonight, his seeds are going to be roasted in a little olive oil with a generous pinch of Maldon Salt and probably some spices.
You really do make some tasty nosh and fine beverage Chilli, impressive stuff. I mix those pumpkin seeds with a few sunflower seeds and sprinkle them on my porridge.
It’s what keeps me young…I think…
Thank you Foxy, it’s simply because we enjoy it
I imagine that it’s the running and cycling that keep you sprightly, and being a top contributor to the forum too!
Azz will now send me a generous cheque… hope it’s not rubber like the last one!
I would guess that a good 70% of men in this country and a close proportion of women will either watch or attend a football game any given weekend, so I joined the faithful and just wrapped up a couple of hours cheering for my favorite university. My neighbors came over with their grandkids, so between the kids and dogs running around, the excitement of the game, and a noisy kitchen, it was quite fun.
Now it’s an afternoon of glorious weather an a little more sanding before a financially painful shopping trip to the grocery store.
That’s excellent that you have your HiFi operational again! I have a similiarly aged system in the office closet reminind me that I am committing the sin of gathering dust. I would so love to get it going again; the particulary nuanced sound of albums sure takes me back… What are you playing first?
How very kind and generous of you, Sheila. I know you get much pleasure from the little birds and giving them a little help is worth every penny.
Fabulous! I have never prepared them before, but now I have inspiration and instructions. Thank you for that! Nice Jack, too!
I am afraid it was just forgetfulness, occasionally when I am travelling I have a good excuse being out of phone range but that was being too busy to remember, I should have done it when I put the photos thread up.
